God Told Me Not to Topple

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Cor. 15:58

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen.” Jude 1:24-25

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23

““Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”” Mt. 7:24-27

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13

One day the Spirit of God told me two things. He told me to stand. He told me not to topple. Could this really have been the Lord speaking to me? And, if so, what did this message mean? Most importantly, as you read this, is this message for you?

Yes, God really spoke this to me. I did some digging and discovered just what God meant. Dictionary.com includes in the meaning of stand, “to remain firm or steadfast, as in a cause” and “to take up or maintain a position or attitude with respect to a person, issue, or the like…” God only and always speaks in line with His Word, so what does the Bible say? That we should be steadfast! We should stand on God’s Truth, on His Word, and we should stand up for the Lord Jesus Christ, right? Yes!

What about toppling? Collinsdictionary.com defines topple as “If someone or something topples somewhere or if you topple them, they become unsteady or unstable and fall over.” Would the Lord tell me, or you, to not become unstable and fall over? Yes!

Friend, given the storms of this life, given the trials and tribulations we experience, given the temptations all around us, given how hard the devil comes at us at times, we need to STAND STRONG and to NOT TOPPLE. Toppling comes BEFORE a fall. Something or someone TOPPLES OVER until it or he or she is in a fallen position.

May you find STRENGTH and WISDOM in the scriptures above. We need to be FOUNDED on the ROCK of the LORD JESUS CHRIST which begins by repenting and placing our faith in Him as LORD. And day by day we need to FOLLOW JESUS by living according to GOD’S WAYS. We need to find our STRENGTH in CHRIST. We need to be STEADFAST in reading and living by God’s Word and in being solidly immersed in Christ’s body of fellow believers so we can love one another, pray for one another, comfort and encourage one another, and help one another to grow in our relationship with God, AND help people who don’t have a relationship with Christ hear the Gospel message and repent and commit their lives to Him. We need to be STEADFAST in spending time with the Lord continually, including listening to Him and obeying Him!

May we not topple! May we not fall! May we hold on for dear life to the Lord and to His Word – forever! Amen!
