If you are familiar with the Bible story about Jonah, you know he ran away from God and God’s will for him and ended up in the belly of a whale before he repented and at long last obeyed God and preached to a mass number of people who through his preaching got saved.
I read and studied and heard preached Jonah’s story countless times over the years and even wrote a book on it and managed to miss something so powerful the Holy Spirit of God brought to light as I dove back into the well-known story.
JONAH DID NOT HESITATE to run away from God and God’s will. AS SOON AS GOD TOLD HIM WHAT TO DO, he ran away. He ran from the Lord IMMEDIATELY.
Jonah had it backwards.
HE SHOULD NOT HAVE HESITATED to obey the Lord! As soon as God told him what to do, HE SHOULD HAVE OBEYED. He should have obeyed the Lord IMMEDIATELY.
Jonah is not the only one who has this backwards.
Have we not at times done the very same thing? Have you?
DO NOT HESITATE TO DO WHAT GOD IS CALLING YOU TO DO!
DO NOT HESITATE TO DO GOD’S WILL – IN GOD’S TIME – FOR GOD’S GLORY!
DO NOT HESITATE TO OBEY THE LORD!
Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Savior of the world who will reign forever and evermore! Amen!
“”Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.” Jonah 1:2-3 NKJV
