Do You Really “Know” the Lord?

If you profess to know the Lord, does your life reflect that you know Him? Repenting and believing the Gospel that Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for your sins to receive forgiveness and the promise of everlasting life does not mean you have reached the finish line. Being born again through faith in Christ is the starting line. Knowing the Lord is not about believing in Him; it is about believing in Him AND following Him. It is an abomination to God when we profess to know Him but live our lives in disobedience and rebellion toward Him. A genuine follower of Jesus Christ is someone who is willing to forsake his or her own ways, and to study the Bible and learn to live according to the ways of the Lord. While no amount of good works can earn God’s love and the promise of eternity, our lives should be filled with good works as the fruit borne from our love for Him and obedience to Him.

If you profess to know the Lord and are living a life of disobedience and rebellion, repent and commit your heart and life unto Him. Not merely in words, but in true sincerity and action.

Tit 1:16  They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
