The devil seems to have loads of wicked tactics in his vile, vicious, sickeningly evil mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), ever striving to keep people from surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and trying desperately to discourage, distract, frighten, weaken, deaden, etc. people who already follow Jesus Christ as Lord. He seems to go to any lengths before he spends forever in hell and the lake of fire in eternal torment to keep people from being wholly and wholeheartedly devoted to loving, serving, obeying, and worshiping the Lord forevermore. One tactic he has used with me countless times that perhaps he uses with you as well is to try to get me riled up.
The devil tries to use people, places, things, and circumstances in our lives to get us to be prideful, judgmental, critical, unkind, condemning, angry, hurt, offended, bitter, complaining, self-pitying, resentful, mean, cold, unloving, upset, vengeful, impatient, irritable, short-tempered, vengeful, and to outright lose our tempers, and to fall into wrath. Ugh! Yuck! Ick!
When we allow our flesh to take the bait the devil throws at us and we fall into these sinful ways, we turn our hearts, eyes, and ears away from the Lord and the Bible. We then fail to live according to God’s ways of love, mercy, grace, hope, joy, forgiveness, generosity, kindness, patience, goodness, etc., whereby we are to humbly, lovingly, reverently, passionately, sacrificially, faithfully honor, adore, serve, obey, worship, and glorify the Lord and love and serve others in His name for His glory!
Friend, don’t get riled up! And when you find you already are riled up, repent and return to the Lord and His ways! For the glory of Christ, AMEN!
Lord, help us to live according to your ways. Help us not to fall for the devil’s tactics. Help us to love and please you not take his bait. Help us to not get riled up. Forgive us for all the times we have gotten riled up in our lives! Forgive us and teach us your ways, oh Lord, AMEN!
