Don’t Go Back

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23

“Maybe I should go back there,” I thought to myself concerning somewhere the Lord had emphatically called me to leave behind.

Sometimes our flesh wants to go back to the familiar, the comfortable, the easy, the simple, to what brings us pleasure, for whatever reason, good or bad, to whatever place or person, good or bad, simply because. Because our flesh has a mind of its own. But then there is the Lord. The one for whom we are to live and breathe. The one to whom we are to surrender entirely.

“Why not go where I have sent you instead?” the Lord admonished me.

He was reminding me not to go back. But to press on instead. Following Him.

If the Lord has called you to leave someone or something behind, and has not called you to return, please press on. Following Him. For He is Lord.
