The Holy Spirit of God told me one day He was jealous. If you don’t believe God can be jealous, and you don’t understand the dire need we have to avoid making Him jealous, dive into the Bible and see the truth about His jealousy. He commands us to have no gods before Him, He tells us He is to be preeminent in our lives, He warns us that He is to be our first love, He calls us emphatically to seek His Kingdom and righteousness first, He absolutely gets jealous when His children foolishly, rebelliously, adulterously, and unfaithfully love others, false gods, idols, stuff, anyone or anything above and instead of Him, and He makes abundantly clear there will be awful, horrific, unfathomably terrible consequences for those who do not repent and make Him their Lord, God, Savior, first love, and highest priority. The Lord made Himself utterly clear with me that day, oh yes He did!
“Don’t hold onto [that person],” the Lord spoke to my heart. “Hold onto me. I am jealous. You have exalted [that person]for far too long. Stop. Repent. And get on with the work I have called you to do.”
I repented. Immediately. I wish I could say that was the only time I have clung and cleaved to a person or people or something instead of to the Lord or elevated something or someone above Him. I am a clinger by nature and have to be vigilant in being sure to cling to the Lord and not to people and careful to always exalt Him above everything and everyone as there is truly nothing and nobody in the universe more important, powerful, awesome, amazing, beautiful, wonderful, and glorious than He is! I praise the Lord in His lovingkindness He leads me swiftly to repentance when I fall backward and cling and cleave to someone other than Him or do not magnify Him above all else!
Cling and cleave to the Lord, friend! Exalt and magnify the Lord above everything and everyone in the universe. Oh, yes!
Friend, the very moment the Holy Spirit reveals to us we are elevating anyone or anything above Him and/or cleaving and clinging to someone or something instead of to Him, WE MUST REPENT. And should we fall back into that sin regarding anyone or anything, WE MUST REPENT. We must strive ALWAYS at ALL TIMES to love, honor, magnify, exalt, praise, worship, adore, and glorify the Lord God almighty above everything and everyone in the universe including ourselves!
Let us exalt and magnify and glorify God, oh yes! To Him let us cling and cleave. Today, tomorrow, and forever and ever, AMEN!
Father, oh Father, forgive us all! For I believe in one way or another we have probably all done this at times. Have mercy upon us. Teach us to fear you, oh Lord! Help us to recognize when we have fallen into this sin, and lead us immediately to repentance, oh God! Thank you for your love and mercy! Help us to be faithful to you at all times as you are faithful to us, your children, oh God! Amen!
