Don’t Let the Devil Do This

Out of seemingly nowhere I heard these words inside my heart, and I am quite sure since they line up with the Bible and given how I was feeling at the time that the Holy Spirit had spoken this strong encouragement.

“Don’t let the devil trample all over you,” He said. “Trample over him.”

Then a few more words came. “Don’t listen to his lies,” the Holy Spirit told me. “Believe my Truth [i.e. the Bible].”

In his mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), the devil goes to any lengths to lie to us, attack us,  deceive us, tempt us, distract us, discourage us, get us depressed and downhearted, wreck our relationship with the Lord, get us off track, convince us we can’t do what God calls us to do, convince us God doesn’t love and care about us, tear us down, make us focus on ourselves instead of on God and others, get us to give up, terrify us, etc.

He will try just about anything to trample us down, and, if we’re not careful, we can end up really broken, messed up, unfocused, disheartened, etc.

Know what Jesus tells the disciples? ““Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”” Luke 10:19 NKJV

And in the well-known Psalms 91, the psalmist writes of this happening for those who put their trust and take refuge in the Lord:

“You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.” Psalms 91:13 NKJV

I encourage you to spend time in God’s presence daily, read the Bible each and every day, and keep a lookout for verses and passages that encourage you to focus on the Lord and how to how to have victory through the Lord Jesus Christ in your life’s battles.

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” 1 John 5:4

Even as I write this, I have been feeling really down, discouraged, very much on my own, and have done much crying out to the Lord. I hope this message is as much of an encouragement to you as it is to me. Let us look to the Lord! And not allow the enemy to trample us down!
