More than Words
I believe with all my heart there is a way to practice Thanksgiving to God on an ongoing basis that is far greater than merely telling God over and again, “Thank you God! Thank you God!” Oh, most assuredly, I believe we should absolutely tell the Lord regularly how much we love Him and how thankful we are to Him for Him first and foremost as well as for all His endless blessings. But words are words, and I believe we can do something that “speaks” beyond words.
I believe we can SHOW God how much we love Him and how thankful we are to Him in our actions by lovingly obeying Him including serving Him! Each and every day, we can choose to humble ourselves and in our decision-making to choose to do what brings God love, honor, praise, joy, pleasure, honor, and glory. We can “thank God”, in essence, in our obedience and service to Him.
Have you considered obedience including service to God as an expression of love for and Thanksgiving to Him? I encourage you to SHOW the Lord your love and Thanksgiving daily!
I love in the following little Bible story how Peter’s mother-in-law responded to Jesus healing her with serving. Do you suppose she did so with a thankful heart? I would most certainly think so!
“And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.” Matthew 8:14-15 KJV
