“This feels so fresh and free,” I thought concerning a possible decision in my ministry writing. But the Holy Spirit caught me quickly. He gave me a reminder – and gave me this message.
We are not to live for self but to live for the Lord. We are not to bow down to the flesh but to bow down to the Lord. We are not to let our feelings reign but to yield to the reign of Christ.
The Lord will allow us to let our emotions rule and reign as they take up residence on the throne of our hearts and lives. But this is not His will for us.
We are to deny self and do what? Take up our crosses and do what? Follow Him! Jesus Christ is Lord and will reign forevermore! Let us live for the Lord, oh yes!
When we commit our lives to Christ, we are to no longer be little lords of our little lives bowing down to the flesh and letting our emotions rule and reign. We are to submit ourselves to the lordship and sovereignty of God almighty.
Are your emotions reigning? Turn to the Lord, friend! Turn to Him! Bow down to the Lord! Live for Him!
Lord, this world teaches so strongly we should live to please ourselves and turn our backs on you. Oh, how foolish is this world. Forgive us, oh Lord, for this wickedness! Help us to deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and to follow you just as your Word teaches us. Help us to no longer let our emotions reign. Reign in our hearts! Reign in our lives! Teach us to live surrendered to you, dear Father! AMEN!
“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23.
