Don’t Limit the Lord
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory…” Ephesians 3:20-21
I have a friend who dreams BIG. She is lively, giggly, vivacious, passionate about Christ above all else, and a woman of ideas and dreams. But I look at her and see her limitations – how she limits God. Her dreams are BIG in the eyes of humans – and small from the standpoint of God. I point the finger at her so easily. Then I look in the mirror. I am just like my friend. I am FILLED with ideas and dreams. But no matter how BIG my dreams, I place limits on our infinite God. I look from outside my friend and peer in at her life and want to tell her how she limits God by not seeing beyond her dreams. Oh, but how she must look outside of me and peer in at my life and see how I do exactly the same! God’s giggle girls, we could call ourselves, vehemently on fire for the Lord and serving Him, and giggling as we dream our BIG-little dreams. We see from outside of each other one another’s lives. But God has the greatest perspective – for He peers down at our itty bitty lives and human-sized dreams. Oh, how He must sigh!
No matter how much we may dream and giggle, there is something altogether serious about ensuring above all else we are seeking the Lord’s will in all things, diligently studying and soaking up His Word as we wait to hear His voice which will always line up with His Word, and submitting ourselves unreservedly to His dreams for our lives. For our lives belong to Him, and seeking, chasing and living His dreams as we live and breathe to bring Him glory is what we who call ourselves His children through faith in His blessed Son must do day by day.
Don’t limit the Lord!
