Life can be tough, trials can be grueling, challenges can seem insurmountable, hurdles can seem uncrossable, tears can seem never-ending, hurt can seem ceaseless, health issues can seem endless, tribulations can seem merciless, and in the midst of it all blessings can seem non-existent. Sometimes it can feel like our trials and tribulations and this world’s woes are so overwhelming that blessings may seem available to other people but impossible for us to have and enjoy. Friend, I have some really strong encouragement for you. From someone who has had seemingly relentless struggles for decades. So I share with you from experience. I am preaching from the trenches of this life.
Please don’t miss this blessing. What blessing? The blessing – and blessings – right in front of you. The one – and ones – God bestows upon us each and every day. I believe many of us myself very much included are missing God’s blessings at times if not continually because we are so focused on our trials and troubles that we forget to look up to the Lord, down to the Bible, and out to others and to our lives and this world filled with blessings. Can our lives be unbelievably hard and challenging? Yes! Is this world in dire straits right now because so many people have their backs turned to the Lord Jesus Christ? Yes! But this does NOT mean God is not still in the blessings business. He most assuredly is!
Please look up to God in heaven, look down to your Bible and read and live by it, look outward to people whom you love and who love you, and look at all the blessings that abound day by day. Start with just one blessing. Then look at all the others.
The greatest blessing? The Lord and a forever relationship with Him and the promise of heaven for those who turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, and truly turn and commit our hearts and lives to God and His ways.
Other blessings? Love, grace, mercy, hope, joy, peace, sunsets, sunrises, the stars, moon, sky, rainbows, the ocean, mountains, beautiful friendships, loving marriages, weddings, births, rivers and creeks, laughter and smiles, sports, knitting and crafting, boating and skydiving, surfing and swimming, healing, palm trees and butterflies, artwork and godly movies, yummy delicious books, orphans being adopted, dogs being rescued and adopted, bruises healing, hearts being mended, my paralyzed ministry dog Miss Mercy giving me the look that it’s time for the rest of her breakfast right now, and on and on.
Please don’t miss this blessing. This reminder that God’s blessings go on and on. Let us cry out to God in praise for all His love and blessings! Amen!
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17 NKJV
“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:” Psalms 103:1-2 NKJV
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV
