Don’t Stop. Keep Walking.

I don’t hear the Holy Spirit speak to me audibly like a human. But I hear Him clear as day on a regular basis word for word speaking to my heart. Like when I was walking down the beach praising and worshiping the Lord and spending time in His presence on a gloriously hot late August day.

“Don’t stop. Keep walking.” The words were plain and clear.

I had seen what looked like a ministry opportunity. Normally I would have dove headfirst into the opportunity. But the Lord had other plans. He wanted me to keep walking. To go where He was leading me. And to not go where He was not leading me.

I believe we who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ should be so in love with Him, so devoted to Him, and so regularly spend time alone in His presence, praising and worshiping Him, praying to Him, crying out to Him, pouring out our hearts to Him, reading the Bible, learning to recognize His voice, that we are wonderfully in tune and in touch with and sensitive to His glorious voice. And that we are humble and reverent and fear Him in our love for Him when we hear Him – resolving to respond to His voice with our love, humility, and adoration demonstrated in obedience to Him.

For so very long I called Jesus Lord but lived my life as though I were lord over it. Like I was a little god over my own little life. At long last I understand each and every day we should seek and follow the Lord.

And so it is when He tells us to stop, we should stop. When He tells us to keep walking, we should keep walking. Whatever He tells us, we should do. And should we fall short in discerning His voice, or discern His voice but fail to obey Him, let us make the necessary correction and press on following the Lord Jesus Christ today, tomorrow, and forevermore, AMEN!

“Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it.” Psalms 119:35 NKJV

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecc. 12:13 KJV
