I Will Be Okay If…

I wonder if you can relate to this at all. Ever thought like this?

I will be okay if so-and-so gets better. I will be okay if my son stops drinking. I will be okay if the television news gets better. I will be okay if she stops treating me badly. I will be okay if so-and-so apologizes. I will be okay if I get into graduate school. I will be okay if I get another job. I will be okay if I get a raise. I will be okay if I get out of jail soon. I will be okay if my spouse stops having an affair and comes back to me. I will be okay if I can go on that dream vacation. I will be okay if it stops raining day after day.

See the common denominator in all this? It’s making being okay contingent on something and/or someone. It’s making being okay conditional on something and/or someone. It means we are convinced we will only be okay if our circumstances changes, someone changes, life is different, we get what we want, we get what we think we need, world events change, the weather changes, etc. And this puts us in a very precarious position, doesn’t it? After all, we can’t change the world around us. And believing we will only be okay if… means we may well spend a lot of our lives not being okay.

I know all about this. I lived my life like this for decades. Even when I came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, I continued in this. And I still fall into this when I’m not super careful.

Friend, the only absolute surety we have in this life is that Jesus Christ is Lord, that those who turn to and believe in and follow Him as Lord will spend forever with Him, and that all we need is in and through and from the Lord. When we put our trust in Him and are truly totally devoted to Him, we can rest assured we will be okay no matter what because perfect love, peace, hope, joy, love, comfort, wisdom, direction, truth, fellowship, lordship, friendship, encouragement, rejoicing, and the promise of forever life in heaven are found in the Lord.

Let us stop believing we will only be okay if the world around us turns out a certain way, and let us learn no matter our circumstances, trials, tribulations, world events, how people behave, etc., that we can be okay IN THE LORD. Hallelujah! Oh, turn, turn, turn to Jesus now and forever, AMEN! Find your being okay – IN THE LORD!

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33 NKJV

I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.” Psalms 34:1-5 NKJV

“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11-13 NKJV

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3-4 NKJV
