I was thinking of reaching out to someone I sensed might need help. The Lord has given me a humongous heart for Him and a huge heart for others. So what could be wrong with reaching out with His love? Nothing wrong with what I was thinking of doing in terms of helping someone in possible need. What was wrong was the Lord made clear it wasn’t His will.
When we get bogged down doing things the Lord doesn’t want us to do, no matter how good our intentions or how good the opportunity, we get off God’s pathway for us, we may be unavailable or too worn out to do what God does desire for us, and/or we may simply find ourselves overwhelmed and overloaded because we have taken on something He hasn’t assigned to us.
I chose to obey the Lord that day. Why not seek the Lord and do the same? Pray and obey!
“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” Colossians 1:9
Father God, how easy it is for us in our humanness to go running out in the flesh and to do things without seeking and waiting on you. Even when we do clearly hear from you, how easy it is in our sinfulness to rush off anyway and leave you and your will behind. Oh, how we take on things you haven’t given us, don’t we? Please Lord bring the conviction we need, bring the strength we need, and help us dear Father to take on only what you give us. And, for those of us like myself who tend to take too much on, please help us continually let go of what you don’t desire for us to do. Thank you Lord, AMEN!
