Feeling rejected? Ugh, it’s hard, isn’t it? In fact, sometimes it is really, really hard. Sometimes it may hurt so much, in fact, you may feel like giving up. On something. On someone. On yourself. Worst of all, on God Himself. And on life itself. I should know. I have been rejected on and off my whole life. Lots of times it had nothing to do with me. Sometimes it had everything to do with me. Sometimes it was because I did something wrong. Other times for reasons that had nothing to do with me. But I am sensitive. I am emotional. I love people. And rejection has been a really big hard thorn in my side for as long as I can remember. But I have found hope!
I have found the answer! I have found the cure! I have found the freedom! I have found peace! Even when rejection comes now, I know how to handle it. And I can sum it up in a single word. And I am led to share this hope with you now. Perhaps you or someone you know needs it also!
JESUS!
When I focus on the rejection, and on the person or people rejecting me, and on my heart and how it hurts, I spiral downward. My hurt seems to grow and grow. I tend to fall into discouragement and despair and feeling so very alone. Bitter, self-pitying. Sometimes angry, critical of those who have rejected me. Sin, sin, sin. All needing to be gotten rid of.
But there is an alternative to this. A wonderful one. His name is Jesus! The Lord Jesus Christ! When I TURN TO GOD, pour my heart out to Him, cry out to God in prayer, repent of any and all sin, forgive the person or people, pray for them if, as, when, and however God leads, something wonderful happens!
When I FOCUS ON JESUS, MY PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, THE BIBLE, HIS WILL FOR MY LIFE, AND ALL THE BLESSINGS GOD BESTOWS ON ME DAILY, and I get busy LOVING AND SERVING GOD WITH ALL MY HEART and LOVING AND SERVING OTHERS AS GOD LEADS ME, I find love, hope, peace, joy, freedom, fulfillment, comfort, wisdom, purpose, and am excited to go forward in life following Jesus!
The answer to rejection is JESUS! The way to overcome rejection is to TURN TO THE LORD! To turn from our sins, to believe in Jesus as Lord and in His death and resurrection, to turn to God and His ways, to be forgiven and given a forever relationship with Him, to have the Holy Spirit come live in us, to FOLLOW JESUS, to LIVE FOR JESUS, to be TOTALLY DEVOTED TO JESUS, to FOCUS ON JESUS, to LOVE AND SERVE THE LORD AND OTHERS, and to EXPERIENCE AND ENJOY A FOREVER INTIMATE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS!
If you are feeling rejected, TURN, TURN, TURN to the Lord!
Not only must we TURN TO THE LORD, but we need to learn to FOCUS ON THE LORD. And when our focus falls away and we focus again on ourselves, the rejection, the hurt, and on our challenging circumstances and the world’s woes, we need to TURN BACK TO THE LORD! And to FOCUS ON AND FOLLOW JESUS as the Holy Spirit of God lovingly, mercifully, graciously, blessedly leads us forth! Hallelujah! Amen!
The following verse reminds me to steadfastly FOCUS ON JESUS! The King James version of the Bible uses the word “fixed” instead of “steadfast”.
“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.” Psalms 57:7 NKJV
“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2 NKJV
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
