Someone who has hurt me so many times in the past hurt me again. Never any acknowledgment of wrongdoing. Never any remorse. Never any apology. Never any change. Just a matter of time before the hurt comes again. And the fresh wounds. But my attitude has changed about it all. Because of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Don’t get me wrong. It hurts just as much as ever if not more. But now I see the person needs Jesus. The person needs love and forgiveness. Mercy and grace. The person needs prayer. The person needs to see the love and light and compassion of Jesus in me.
And I need to go to Jesus with my fresh wounds. Not to try to cover them up with the band-aid of this world’s remedies. But I need to pour out my heart to the Lord, to take my fresh wounds to Him, to seek and receive His love and comfort, His healing and goodness and kindness. And to come into His refuge, to rest under His wings, to cry into His everlasting arms, to lay down my head upon His glorious shoulder, to feel His hand dry my new tears, to hide in His shelter, and to trust He will give me the strength to carry on.
Come to Jesus, friend, bring your fresh wounds to Him. Love and forgive those who hurt you, and pray for them. And find comfort, compassion, love, and healing in the Lord. Amen.
Please note there are times God calls us to walk away from people, to end relationships with them, or to take seasons away, etc. for protection, safety, growth, healing, to lead us elsewhere, etc. Always we must obey God concerning whether to stay or go. Regardless, we should love & forgive. And find love, healing & comfort in Jesus!
