The Lord one day gave me the words, “glory giver.” Not long afterward, He gave me the words, “glory seekers.” He gave me a message about my friend the glory giver and how we should strive to ever give Him glory. Then He gave me this verse below and this message about glory seekers. Glory givers continually seek opportunities to give God the glory and do so. Glory seekers seek to bring and give glory to themselves not God. The focus is not on the Lord as it should be for everything good including the greatest blessing of all the Lord Himself. The focus is on self where the focus should not be.
Please consider the psalmist’s words:
“Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.” Psalms 115:1
We are NOT to seek glory for ourselves!
But let’s be honest. Are we glory seekers? Do we sometimes praise ourselves? Do we ever show off? Do we want pats on the back, attention, validation, affirmation, etc., whereby we go chasing after glory from people? Do we ever give ourselves credit instead of glory to God? Do we boast of ourselves? Are we pridefully seeking glory in any area of our lives instead of striving to give glory to the Lord? Oh, we must repent of this!
May we humble ourselves! May we get rid of every ounce of pride from our hearts and lives whenever pride rears its despicable head! May we not be glory seekers. May we be glory givers. Glory – all glory – always – to the Lord! Amen!
“Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.” Psalms 57:11
I am strongly compelled in my love for and fear of the Lord to rid myself of every prideful word, thought, and action, to humble myself before the Lord continually, and to be a glory seeker. Will you join me, friend?
