God Carried Me

“The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’” Deuteronomy 1:30-31 [please read this verse in context in the Bible. It is simply used hear to show how the Lord in His awesome love can in fact carry us!]

The day I received an email notifying me the closest female friend I had ever had was dead, I found myself just minutes later out on the little country road in front of my house at the time crying out aloud to the Lord. Over and again. Three words. Nothing more. Nothing less.

“Carry me, Lord! Carry me Lord.” That’s all I could say. That’s all I could do. Walk, fast, walk, walk, walk, run really. It felt like running anyway. And cry out, cry out, cry out. “Carry me, Lord!”

I didn’t even know just then what had happened. I was soon to find out. She had been found dead in her apartment with a shotgun wound to her chest. I was told it was a suicide. Some, myself included, believe it may not have been. Only the Lord knows. Her dog Elijah whom she had adopted from me whom the Lord had used to bring me into her life to help lead her to Jesus had been returned to me. So now I had her beloved Elijah. And my friend was gone.

Some things in life we feel like we’re never going to get through. And the truth is without the Lord Jesus Christ we may never get through them. But with Christ, in Christ, through Christ, and for Christ, we can get through. Because just as the Lord answered my cries in that season of my life, He will in fact carry us through when our hearts and lives are yielded to Him.

His love, mercy, grace, peace, joy, wisdom, strength, comfort, compassion, kindness, protection, healing, redemption, voice, Word, Spirit, tenderness, nearness, presence, and on and on, all the beautiful blessings He bestows upon us, all of this shows us that the Lord God almighty cares more deeply for His children than we can possibly imagine.

If you need to be carried, don’t look to the world to carry you. Look to Jesus. And cry out to Him. Yield yourself utterly to Him. Give your life totally to Him. Heart included. And may His everlasting arms take you tenderly into His embrace as He carries you in His unfathomable love.  Lord carry them! Lord carry them! Lord carry those reading this who need to be carried! Oh, Lord carry them! In your unfathomable love, yes! AMEN!
