“For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.” Psalm 61:3
When the storms of life come, there is no shelter like the shelter of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no safety like His. No love and comfort like His. No more merciful place to be. Nothing more comforting than running into His arms. When I was a child, the thunderstorms seemed so loud and brutal to the mind, eyes, and ears of a child living in a little house in the woods with her family. When my Dad was out, my Mom took us into the basement to be safe. When my Dad was home, we huddled together as best I recall in the living room. Staying close. Riding through the storm. What a blessing it is to know when life’s storms take their brutal beating on us, no matter what it is we find ourselves going through, that we can come into the shelter of Jesus. Into His loving refuge. Knowing His love, His grace, His peace, His rest. Jesus, mighty shelter. When our lives are surrendered to Jesus as Lord, we can take shelter in Him on this earth – and look forward to His forever shelter in heaven. Oh, bless the Lord! For His shelter. Oh, bless the Lord! He is our shelter! AMEN!
