One night God caught me starting to do something I wasn’t supposed to be doing. Now you not might think it was awful or anything, but the reality was God had made clear I needed to not go down an old pathway He had mercifully taken me off of. There I was headed right back down it when He caught me – and stopped me. And swiftly led me to repentance.
Oh, thank God for His love and mercy, His grace and forgiveness, His kindness and patience, His ever working on His children to perfect His ways in us!
We don’t see God in the flesh standing in front of us, and He doesn’t walk around in human form everywhere we go, and He doesn’t sit down with us at the dinner table or hunt us down in the wrong places we go, or drive with us in our cars, or come to work with us, not in human flesh anyway. But the Spirit of God who lives inside His followers knows good and well everything we think, feel, say, and do.
And the Holy Spirit in His love for us will bring conviction, chastening, and correction and lead us to repentance when we need it. That night, God caught me before I went any further in the wrong direction.
Question is, how will we respond when God catches, convicts, chastens, and corrects us?
Will we humble ourselves and repent? Or in our pride and wickedness walk on down the pathway of wickedness, ungodliness, and unrighteousness?
Let us yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit of God and be thankful that in His love for us He leads us down the pathway of righteousness, godliness, and holiness. And let us humbly, lovingly, reverently follow Him as He leads us forth. Amen!
“He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.” Psalms 23:3 NKJV
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”
Proverbs 3:11-12 NKJV
