God Give Me Increased Sensitivity!
“Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”” Mark 12:29-31………….
“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:29-31………..
Have you ever prayed this? God, give me increased sensitivity! Have you ever considered how important this is? Would you consider praying it? Is the Lord leading you to pray this? If He is, please pray it. God, give me increased sensitivity! Regardless of whether or not you pray it, please would you read this message? About increased sensitivity? And why this matters – so very much.
The Cambridge Dictionary online (dictionary.cambridge.org) includes in its definitions of “sensitive” this: “having or showing awareness and understanding, esp. of other people’s feelings and needs:” It also includes in its definitions this: “(of a person) easily upset:” Does anything stand out to you about these two definitions?
The first is focused on others. The second is focused on self. What does the Lord command us when it comes to Himself, self, and others? To love HIM with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength AND to love others as ourselves. What about self? The Lord Jesus Christ calls us to DENY self. Where should our focus be? On LOVING THE LORD and on LOVING OTHERS.
I don’t know about you, but I have been very sensitive for as long as I can remember. I have taken much personally and been hurt easily. My sensitivity has been about SELF. The first definition of sensitive above says, “having or showing awareness and understanding, esp. of people’s feelings and needs.” We need to be SENSITIVE, AWARE AND UNDERSTANDING OF, LOVING AND GIVING TO AND SERVING THE LORD AND OTHERS!
Instead of being consumed with thinking about and acting for ourselves, we need to be sensitive to the feelings and needs of THE LORD AND OTHERS!
Christ’s followers are SERVANTS OF CHRIST, and SERVANTS OF OTHERS, and as such we need to be ever open in our hearts and actions each and every day to the VOICE OF THE LORD, to THE WORD OF THE LORD, to THE WILL OF THE LORD, to HIS PLANS AND PURPOSE for us, to LOVING HIM WITH ALL OUR HEARTS, and to following HIS LEAD and HIS WILL in LOVING AND SERVING OTHERS in HIS NAME for HIS GLORY!
Lord, increase our sensitivity! To you, Lord! And to others! Let us go about each and every day loving you, and loving others, and may all glory be yours alone!
