“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”” Mt. 4:4……….
“He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.” John 21:17………..
When a sweet sister in the Lord contacted me to ask why she was receiving so much Daily Inspiration from me via email, thinking perhaps there was a problem with my email list and technology, and making me think perhaps she was feeling overloaded with emails, my first instinct was to change what I was doing with my writing and publishing. Perhaps I could wait until the end of the day, take all my writing and stick it into one email, and voila, send it out. After all, shouldn’t my main goal be to make things easy and make everyone happy? Almost as soon as I started to explore this possibility, I realized I needed to wait. I hadn’t sought the Lord, and I had a sense He had a purpose in all this writing and in how I have been sending the devotionals out throughout the day – even when there are multiple emails and sometimes plenty of them at that.
Then it came to me. Though I knew at some point, whether soon or down the road, the Lord might in fact lead me to change the way I send out the writing each day, two things dawned on me:
- My main mission is not to please people but to love, please, honor, and obey the Lord, and that needs to be the main mission of all of us.
- The Lord may very well have greatly increased how much I’m writing and sending out each day because of the times we’re living in and because of the exceeding need for all of us each and every day – and throughout the day – to receive love, help, support, encouragement, teaching, strength, and inspiration as far as believing in and following the Lord Jesus Christ is concerned.
The Lord knows who He wants to reach through my little heart and ministry, writing included, and when He wants to reach them, and where, and how, and which message He wants to be heard by which person, whether the person be in the hotel where I stay or all the way in Africa, whether the person be contemplating suicide or a pastor needing encouragement before preaching his next sermon, whether it be someone who has never heard the Gospel message or someone who has been a Christ follower for decades and simply could use a reminder about a certain scripture, whether it be someone who needs to repent and return to the Lord or someone lying on her deathbed being given one final opportunity to give her life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
While my flesh felt bad for possibly upsetting someone, and maybe even others, with “too many emails”, I realized I needed to deny self, seek the Lord, trust the Lord, and obey Him one day at a time as He leads me forth.
Should we not all do the same in every area of our lives? Deny our selves, seek the Lord, trust Him, and obey Him one day at a time as He by His Spirit leads us forth?
If you are not a Christ follower and are ready to become one for the promise of an everlasting relationship with God almighty, with Christ as Lord, feel free to contact me! I could have no greater honor than to show you His love and to help you begin a forever relationship with Him!
