God’s Testing

When I was a school kid, my teachers sometimes gave us a little quiz. Sometimes a test. Then came the big exams. The Lord teaches us His ways in His Word – and tests us. Sometimes we seem to get a little quiz. Sometimes a test. Sometimes big exams. He is the perfect teacher, and He teaches us by His Holy Spirit through His Word and grows, refines, and transforms us through the teaching.

“Are you testing my endurance? And my faith? And my trust?” I asked the Lord one time. “And my heart? And my devotion? And my desire and ability to praise, honor, and glorify you even in the midst of the battles?”

I knew by His Holy Spirit who lives inside His followers that He most assuredly was. This didn’t seem like a little quiz. Nor like a test. It seemed more like a super big exam. I could have run the other way. I knew that wasn’t the answer.

Friend, the Lord doesn’t leave His children as we were or even as we are. He continually transforms us to be the people He created us to be. His forever. Those of us who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord can expect to be taught, tested, corrected, encouraged, chastised, reminded, helped, purified, loved, refined, and transformed as He graciously, mercifully, patiently leads us forth and draws us closer and closer to Himself and makes us more and more like Himself all for the glory of Christ, AMEN!

Need encouragement? Consider this:

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6

And also this:

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” Psalms 138:8

I encourage you to read the Bible each and every day without fail. I made this commitment some years ago, and I have been blessed beyond measure in keeping it! Please do the same! We can rest assured His Holy Spirit will teach us the Bible and empower us to live by it, He will enable us to pass our tests when we live in obedience to Him, He will forgive us when we fall short and repent, and He will lovingly lead us onward when we humbly and reverently submit ourselves to Him, oh yes!

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26
