Good News Daily – April 27

Dear friend,

What a wonderful weekend I had. Please don’t get me wrong. I struggle with one thing or another every single day and have for decades. I have had challenges galore and they persist. But I had a wonderful weekend despite my challenges, despite the world’s challenges, despite it all.

My wonderful weekend? I followed Jesus. I received the Lord’s love, I loved Him in return with all my heart, and I loved others as myself. I loved the Lord and I served the Lord. I praised Him, prayed to Him, sang to Him, walked with Him, listened to Him, obeyed Him, repented when I needed to repent, and served Him in my ministry work telling the world about Him. I read the Bible, studied the Bible, and continued to learn to live by the Bible. I rejoiced in Christ, and I enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and fresh outdoors where I sat some and walked with the Lord lots.

My wonderful weekend? In one single word? JESUS.

Friend, if you stripped away absolutely everything in your life, all the earthly pleasures and treasures, all the commitments, opportunities, vacations, people, absolutely everything, what would you find at your very foundation? At your very core? Would you find Jesus, His love, His forgiveness, and a forever relationship with Him? A relationship so amazing, so awesome, so intimate, so personal, so magnificent that in the deepest part of your heart you would always have love, peace, hope, and joy beyond belief and rest in the truth you are promised everlasting life with Jesus instead of forever apart from Him in hell and the lake of fire in forever torment?

If you need help beginning and/or pursuing a forever relationship with the Lord, please feel free to contact me at 843-338-2219 or lara@GoodNews.love. I would be humbled and blessed beyond measure to help you in believing in and faithfully, humbly, blessedly, and blissfully follow Jesus now and forevermore, AMEN!

In the meantime, please enjoy and be encouraged and challenged to grow reading today’s Good News Daily THREE MESSAGES below.

I do my very best to be filled with the Spirit of God, to be led by the Spirit of God, and in so doing to share with you the messages I believe He places on my heart when He wants me to deliver them. Today’s messages for me are powerful and convicting, and I thank the Lord He loves us so much that He doesn’t hold back the truth but uses the truth to refine us, purify us, teach us, grow us, draw us to Himself, correct us, and make us more like Himself – when we are fully surrendered to Him.

Are you wholly surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ? For so long, I was merely a lukewarm believer. He despises lukewarmness, friend. Now I’m on fire. Be on fire for the Lord, and may today’s messages be used by Him to grow you in His image and to bring glory to His name!

love & blessings,

lara

I Didn’t Say Thank You

I was going through my morning routine of caring for my beloved handicapped ministry doggies when in my usual mind meanderings I realized I had not truly thanked the Lord for something He had done the day before.

I had found myself falling headlong onto the pavement in front of a store. Don’t ask. I don’t know exactly what I did. Somehow I tripped on the curb I guess. Needless to say, my entire body went flying forward in a horizontal position – not a good thing with pavement as the final destination. Not especially when I have osteoporosis and need to be careful not to injure my bones.

Though the flying and falling came totally unexpectedly, my hands went out so quickly that I was able to fall on my feet and hands rather than on my full body. The fall was cushioned, so to speak. What could have been horrendous turned out to be perfectly fine albeit embarrassing if anyone happened to be watching. My hands I landed on? Perfectly fine. Everything, perfectly fine. I stood up and continued with my day. Not thanking the Lord the way I could and should have done, not to my recollection anyway.

How many times in our lives do you suppose does the Lord bless us in an infinite number of ways and do we neglect to acknowledge Him, thank Him, praise Him, and give Him the glory? How often do we take Him and His blessings for granted, do we neglect to even notice His blessings, do we praise ourselves or others instead of Him, and/or do we simply hurry forward with our lives forgetting about the Lord, His care, His goodness, His greatness, His magnificence, etc. as He manifests His love, grace, mercy, kindness, beauty, power, strength, healing, sovereignty, lordship, and glory in all sorts of ways?

Oh, how far short I fall. No pun intended. Forever wouldn’t be enough to thank the Lord for all He has done in my life, is doing, and still is yet to do. Oh, how wonderful, how magnificent, how amazing, how beautiful, how blessed, how infinitely marvelous is the Lord God almighty!

Father, forgive us for every time we ever neglect for whatever reason to thank you for all that you are, all you have done and are doing and will do, and for every single reason you are worthy and deserving of our love, praise, honor, thanksgiving, and rejoicing! Give us reminders, please Lord. Not that we should need them. But we in our flesh fall so very far short, dear Father. How can we ever thank you enough for every one of your blessings most especially for you and for a forever relationship with you we can only have through repentance and faith in you Jesus as Lord and in your death and resurrection when we truly turn from a lifestyle of sin to you as Lord? To faithfully follow you now and forever.  Yes, Lord, you are our number one gift. Our absolutely best blessing. And then on and on your blessings go. And on and on our thankfulness should go. May praise fill our hearts, may praise fill our mouths, and may we not merely thank you, dear Father, but may we express our thanksgiving to you and for you to others that they through our praise may be drawn to you, dear Lord. AMEN!

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” Hebrews 13:15

“Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.” Psalm 63:3

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1

MESSAGE FROM GOD: When He Is Tough & Stern

When the Lord told me what He wanted me to do next one beautiful sunshine-y Saturday, I will leave it to your imagination how I felt inside when I didn’t want to do it. I already had my afternoon agenda. Sun, sun, and more sun. Oh, how I LOVE sunshine. But my love for sunshine is nothing compared with my LOVE for the Lord! I couldn’t even think to wiggle my way out of His will not especially when I sensed His sternness. Even though it did mean I needed to leave the sunshine behind for the time being and go inside to work on my devotional writing.

“You are being tough with me,” I told the Lord in my heart.

His reply didn’t just confirm my sense. He made Himself abundantly clear – and delivered a message to me and for those He leads to read this devotional.

“Yes. You need it. Otherwise you will follow your flesh.”

He wasn’t finished.

“I want you following me. I don’t want you to stray.”

No straying. The Lord’s followers are His sheep. We are not to stray. We are to obey. At all times.

“And you need my sternness so that you understand how important it is that you do not simply pray for my will but that you pursue fulfilling it.”

Oh, yes. I had sought the Lord’s will for me that very morning. As I do regularly. Now the Lord was admonishing me. Warning me. Making Himself abundantly – and sternly – clear.

Now see what He spoke to my heart next. This is where so many of us factor in, don’t you think? If we are honest, that is.

“Many say they are committed to me. Commitment is not about words. It is the following through that makes the difference. Following through on what I tell people to do. Not merely hearing me. Heeding me. I promised to order your steps, did I not?”

Was He done? No. More of the message.

“Sometimes you need me to be stern to remember to fulfill the steps I desire for you to take.”

Enough said. A good parent knows how to lead his or her children. He or she knows how to instruct, teach, reprimand, discipline. Knows when to be sweet and soft. Knows when to be stern and tough. The Lord isn’t a good parent. He is the PERFECT Father in heaven. Perfect Father. Perfect LORD. And we are to listen, to hear, to heed. Yes, to follow. With humble hearts. And true commitment.

Is the Lord speaking to you sternly about anything in your life? Please listen. Please obey. Yes, please follow. He is Lord, friend. We are not to question, debate, reason, argue, resist, or rebel. Whether He speaks to us tenderly or sternly, no matter the tone of our FATHER AND LORD, there is only one right way to respond.

Yes, Lord. Let us follow the steps He sets before us. Let us walk down the pathway He leads us down. With the Lord Jesus Christ leading the way. For the glory of Christ, YES!

Lord, I wish we didn’t need you to ever be tough and stern. But you know that we do. Oh, yes we do! I wish we never resisted you, that we never rebelled, that we were never stubborn, that we would never run the other way, that we would never be stuck in place, that we would never fall short of your glorious glory. But oh, how we do!

It’s hard to hear you when you’re stern sometimes, Father, but we need to see your love in this, don’t we. You, you are the perfect Father. Please Lord, sometimes people tell me they don’t believe you speak to us. Sometimes they believe you do but can’t hear from you for whatever reason. I am blessed to hear from you every day regularly. I pray that you would speak to us all every day, dear Father, and that whether you are stern or sweet and tender, help us, oh Lord, to humble ourselves before you and walk in the pathway you set before us. Help us to obey. Give us the humility and strength! By your Spirit, fill your followers with your Spirit each and every day, and help us to walk in your ways. Thank you, Lord, AMEN!

“Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4-5

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23

World’s #1 Problem, #1 Solution

The Holy Spirit led me to two Bible verses and showed me contained within are the world’s #1 problem and the world’s #1 solution. I challenge you to read them AND to determine where you fit into them. Are you part of the problem, or are you part of the solution?

The #1 problem:

““So you shall say to them, ‘This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth.” Jeremiah 7:28

The #1 solution:

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14

The #1 problem in one word: SIN.

The #1 solution in one word: JESUS.

Jeremiah 7:28 in the Old Testament perfectly depicts where we find ourselves in this world right now. Much if not most of this world right now has its heart and back turned against the Lord Jesus Christ, refuses to receive the Lord’s correction and repent and turn to Him, and is not proclaiming and living by this truth: Jesus Christ is Lord, He died on the cross to pay the sin punishment of all of humanity and was raised from the dead, and the only way to the Lord’s forgiveness and everlasting life and fellowship with Him instead of death, hell, and the lake of fire is through repentance and faith in and our lives being surrendered and devoted to Christ as Lord whereby we are filled with His Spirit, led by His Spirit, and live according to His ways as He teaches us in the Bible.

THE ONLY WAY TO A FOREVER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD IS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST AS LORD. THROUGH TURNING FROM A LIFESTYLE OF SIN TO A LIFESTYLE OF LIVING FOR CHRIST. TO LIVING TO LOVE AND GLORIFY AND PRAISE AND WORSHIP AND ADORE AND OBEY AND SERVE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

2 Chronicles 7:14 perfectly depicts what the world needs to do right now. Humble ourselves, pray to the Lord, seek Him, hear Him, and obey Him, and turn away from our sins and turn to Him.

Are you part of the problem or the solution? Please turn from your sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, be forgiven and receive Him as Lord, receive the promise of everlasting life, and live the rest of your life fully devoted to the Lord and His ways. But please don’t stop with your own salvation! Being part of the solution also means we need to fulfill our responsibility to proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ to others and to help every person the Lord desires we help to find and forever follow Him.

It’s so easy to complain about all the darkness and awfulness on this earth right now. Instead of complaining, let’s get busy and wholeheartedly believe in and live for Christ and tell the world about Him. Hallelujah, AMEN!

Oh Father, my heart grieves for this world. But more than grieving for this world and the state of it, my heart grieves for you. You, who sent your only Son Jesus to the cross to bear the punishment we deserve on yourself, of all the sins of all humanity, you died for us all, oh God! You sacrificed your only Son, and Jesus, you lived a perfect life and then sacrificed it to die the worst death of any human ever, oh Lord, your sacrifice is so amazing. And then we have the audacity to turn our backs on you? To rebel against you? To reject you? When you did all that in the way of sacrifice so we could have a forever relationship we couldn’t otherwise have WITH YOU when we turn from our sins and turn to you! Oh, your love is unimaginable!

But here so much of this world rebels and rebels and rebels against you, worshiping false gods, and making more and more of a mess of this world. My heart breaks for you, and for all those suffering worldwide who truly love you and are bearing the consequences of those continuing in sin against you. But then, Lord, we all fall short, even those of us who believe in you. We all need repentance, not just once, but every time you show us. So show us now, Lord, lead us to repentance, each and every one of us worldwide, turn us to you, dear Father, give us more time, hold back your wrath, have mercy upon us, save more people, and give us the desire and boldness and courage to tell others about you, oh dear Lord, help us, help us now, oh how we need you dear Father, help us dear Lord, AMEN!
