So excited! Today is day two of sharing with you my newest book as I write it! I am also so incredibly thankful that the Lord has just opened wide the door to a wonderful ministry opportunity concerning my writing – a door He emphatically let me know He had opened in the past and never shut though I had walked away from the opportunity. Oh, how loving, patient, and merciful is the Lord! I am also rejoicing that I have just ordered my first copy of my just written and published book which will soon be available for people to order. And oh, the blessings go on!
Know what strikes me about all these blessings? I used to think blessings were all about ME, that they were FOR ME, and that I should strive to attain BLESSINGS, BLESSINGS, BLESSINGS! More and more now, I see the blessings I long for are that the Lord would use me to love and glorify Him and to tell the world about Him! How blessed I am to be used by God almighty to help people around the world be faithful in loving and serving Him with all their hearts!
Please enjoy today’s ONE MESSAGE below.
love & blessings,
Once I was clear the Lord had given me the title Faithful: a Daily Devotional from the Heart of Lara Love for the next book He wanted me to write, I figured I better get busy giving close examination to the word faithful. First, I considered what the word means to me. But I didn’t want to stop there. I also wanted to check the dictionary. I loved the sound of the title Faithful, but I yearned to have a solid grasp of the word faithful before I took a big dive into writing the book. After all, if it was the title of an entire daily devotional the Lord had called me to write, shouldn’t I have a deep understanding of the word?
I wanted to consider my own understanding of the word faithful. I wanted to look the word up in a dictionary. But I knew most importantly of all, I wanted to explore over time how the words faithful and faithfulness and faith are used in the Bible. And I wanted over the course of writing the book to see what the Lord wanted to show me and teach me and how He wanted to grow me and use me in others’ lives concerning being faithful in loving and serving Him with all our hearts.
I was off on an adventure, humbled, excited, thrilled, blessed, and in passionate pursuit of all the Lord wanted to do in the writing, publishing, and sharing of this book He had placed on my heart to write.
Within a matter of some days, this is what came to my heart concerning the word faithful:
Full of faith, loyal, committed, endures to the end (Matthew 10:22), perseveres, “faith which worketh by love” (Galatians 5:6 KJV), “Faith without work is dead” (James 2:20 KJV), “We walk by faith not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7 KJV), having faith, being filled with faith, diligent, vigilant, sticks with it, doesn’t give up, stays the course, stays on track, doesn’t veer off course or if veers off course is remorseful and quickly returns, repents when necessary, operates by faith, loving & caring & merciful, is known for being strong in faith, humble, can be counted on, can be trusted, devoted, doesn’t cheat, doesn’t betray, resolved, tenacious, on the same side, focused on the subject of one’s faithfulness, refuses to be pulled away, honors the one to whom one is faithful, respects that person, and loves that person! I figured more would come to mind as I dove into writing the book, but this was a good and exhilerating start!
What does the dictionary have to say about the word “faithful”? Merriam-Webster.com includes in its definition, “steadfast in affection or allegiance” and “firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty” and “true to the facts, to a standard, or to an original.”
Dictionary.cambridge.org says faithful means, “firm and not changing in your friendship with or support for a person or an organization, or in your belief in your principles:” Collinsdictionary.com lists as synonyms to “faithful” these words: “loyal, committed, constant, attached, devoted, dedicated, reliable, staunch, truthful, dependable, trusty, steadfast, unwavering, true-blue, immovable, unswerving.”
Faithful. Faith. Faithfulness. So much to consider with these words. But above all this. The Lord God almighty is perfect in His faithfulness. We who follow the Lord are imperfect when it comes to faithful, faith, and faithfulness, but we are being perfected by the Lord as we surrender ourselves day by day to Him. He calls us to be faithful in following Him. He will enable us to do so. Let us strive to be faithful to the Lord. Let us work hard to be faithful in loving and serving Him with all our hearts. Let us trust Him to give us the strength and absolutely all that is necessary in being faithful in being wholly His, AMEN!
Know what verses really help me when I need to do something I am totally clear I can’t do on my own? These. May you be blessed and encouraged reading and living by them as I am!
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 KJV
Please note the “eth” in the word “strengtheneth”. My understanding is that this implies this is an ongoing action. We don’t just receive the Lord’s strength once or once in a while. When we are surrendered to Him and His ways, we can receive His strength continually!
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” 2 Peter 1:3 KJV
Lord, thank you for this new book you have called me to write. I have just begun and already the devil is coming hard at me to get me to quit. I won’t quit, Father, because I know you have called me to this. And I want to be FAITHFUL. Lord, help me to be faithful in writing this book, protect me and deliver me from the evil one, and please Lord give me each and every message you desire to be in this book to help people all around the world to faithfully follow you, oh Lord! Help us all, dear Lord, day by day, to be faithful, oh yes! Amen!
