Good News Daily – Dec 8

Dear friend,

Years ago, my then husband warned me to slow down given my typical high-speed lifestyle. I didn’t listen. The Lord came up with a wonderful plan. I got pulled over by a police officer for speeding – a few hours later! I didn’t get a ticket. I got a warning. Suffice it to say I have been given many warnings by the Lord about my speed. Not my driving speed. I’m not a high-speed driver. But I tend to get so excited about loving and serving the Lord & others that I will go and go and go – until I burn out. The Lord recently told me to take care of my temple. His temple. My body. My life. This time, I hear clearly the warning. And need to heed it. And want to heed it. And would love it if you are led to pray for me that I would go the speed the Lord desires rather than high speed with disregard to God. Perhaps you are being warned by God even in reading this. Let us all, friend, go God’s speed as we live to love and serve and worship and glorify Him now and forevermore!

love & blessings,

I Failed the Test

I wish I could tell you I have never failed God’s tests over the years. Sadly, I have failed so many. But in seeking and following after God and pressing on in my relationship with Him, I have learned a wonderful lesson in all this. So long as I have pressed forward in seeking Him and His will for me, so long as I have repented along the way, so long as I have asked for and received the filling of His Holy Spirit, so long as I have followed the leading of His Holy Spirit, so long as I have surrendered myself to His Spirit with repentance when needed, the Lord has been so loving, merciful, patient, kind, tender, albeit firm when necessary, gentle, encouraging, compassionate, and comforting with me! He has been such a wonderful, powerful, perfect Father to me.
Just recently, I failed a big test. I was in a fiery battle with the devil coming hard at me. The Lord spoke to my heart how to fight in the battle and secure victory based on what He has been teaching me in the Bible for years. I assumed I would win. I would pass the test. I failed. But I did not turn away from God. I kept pursuing Him. He had mercy on me, and soon enough He gave me another test. Unlike a terrible teacher who is harsh, cruel, intimidating, demeaning, condemning, punishing, and hurtful, and some teachers in their humanness can be this way, God the perfect Lord, perfect God, perfect Father, and perfect teacher, wasn’t and isn’t done with me. I failed the test, but God didn’t leave me nor forsake me. He simply showed me He would continue to love me, to teach me, to grow me, to change me, and, yes, to test me along the way.
God finishes the work He starts in His children. He teaches us. He tests us. And He tells us to be joyful in the testing. Yes, believe it or not, He tells us to REJOICE!
He also makes clear we are ultimately to bring Him praise, honor, and glory! Oh, may you and I do so! Amen!
Is God testing you? Are you in the midst of a great trial? Love and seek and pursue the Lord with all your heart! And REJOICE!
I encourage you to meditate on these verses:
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” Philippians 1:6
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials [also “testing” per Strong’s concordance], that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:6-9
Who is to be our number one teacher in life? The Holy Spirit who lives inside His followers!
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26

Seeking After

When it comes to seeking after, to following, to looking for, to going after, to being resolved to go after something or someone until it or he/she or they are found, we are to seek one above all else. That one is Christ. That one is the Lord. That one is God. But just as our number one seeking after should be Jesus, this seeking should not be the end but the beginning when it comes to seeking. For we should seek the Lord, and ever more of Him, and His Spirit, and ever more of His Spirit, and His Word, and ever more of His Word, and His will, and ever more of His will, and His ways, and ever more of His ways, and of loving, pleasing, adoring, honoring, obeying, serving, and glorifying Him, and ever more of this!
Always we should seek more of the Lord and everything He desires for us to be and to do. The Lord makes clear by His Spirit through His Word and by His Spirit to our hearts personally in line with His Word His will and ways, and here in these verses is a small but critically important portion of what God reveals to us we are to seek as part of our seeking Him. Let us seek and follow after with all our hearts, friend, the Lord and all to which and to what He calls us! Let us seek Him! His ways! His will! His plans! His purpose! And, oh, yes, let us seek to bring Him love, honor, praise, thanksgiving, adoration, reverence, honor, service, obedience, joy, pleasure, and glory in all that we think, say, and do! Oh, hallelujah, oh YES! Amen! Amen and Amen!
Please note in the following verses the word “pursue”. When we passionately pursue something or someone, we are strongly committed and dedicated to going after it, to searching for it, to seeking it, and to finding it. In these verses is just a tiny snippet of what we as God’s children and servants should be seeking in our everyday lives lived for Him!
“Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.” Romans 14:19
“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.” 1 Corinthians 14:1
“See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.” 1 Thessalonians 5:15
“But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6:11
“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:” Hebrews 12:14
