Good News Daily – February 11

Dear friend,

The apostle Paul referred to himself at one point in the Bible as the worst of all sinners. I honestly can’t think of a worse sinner than myself. It is only by God’s grace and because of Jesus’ death and resurrection that I have been forgiven, devoted my life to Christ, and been given a forever relationship with the Lord instead of the hell and lake of fire forever apart from God I deserve. I wish I could tell you I left all my sin behind when I received Christ as Lord. Truth is the Lord is transforming me day by day, and while I have made much progress over the years by His love, grace, and mercy, I still have my falls.

Where once I didn’t care so much when I sinned against the Lord, now it breaks my heart because of how much I love and adore Him. I despise my sin in direct proportion to how much I love my Jesus. I confess with the exceeding stress I have been under, I have fallen at times into impatience and temper tantrums including with my beloved handicapped ministry doggies. The devil uses my bouts with sin to try to convince me to quit life and ministry. But I go to the Lord in repentance and receive His amazing mercy and the strength to persevere.

I wish I could tell you there is a perfect person behind this ministry who sends you Good News Daily. But I am anything but. What I can tell you is there is a perfect Lord Jesus Christ and it is He to whom I beg of you to devote your life and to love and worship and serve with all your heart.

My sweet doggies forgive me when I fall. I even ask their forgiveness! My sweet Jesus forgives me when I ask for His forgiveness. His is the most important forgiveness I need! I ask people to forgive me when I fall short with them. And I ask you to forgive me for the times I fall short in being your friend, your sister in Christ, and your servant through this ministry.

Please keep me prayed up! I am on the front lines of the spiritual battlefield given the work to which the Lord has called me. And it’s a fiery war, my friend. The battles, trials, temptations, and tests seem unbearable at times. But the Lord carries me through them all and perfects His love in me as He does.

love & blessings,

Jesus Ain’t Calling

The Bible makes perfectly clear from start to finish that THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DOES SPEAK TO HIS CREATION, and we SHOULD pray to Him, we SHOULD seek Him, we SHOULD listen to Him, and we SHOULD obey Him. But we need to be enormously careful because just as much as followers of Jesus can hear the Lord speaking to us, we can also get confused and deceived and misled and think we’re hearing from the Lord when plain and simple Jesus ain’t calling.

A super famous book called JESUS CALLING by Sarah Young seemed to have gotten countless people excited about the idea of hearing from the Lord. I have not read the book and can’t tell you whether she truly was hearing from the Lord or not. But I can tell you this. We SHOULD get excited that the Lord loves and cares about us so much that He speaks to us as He as leads, guides, grows, and provides for His children. But we need to know the difference between when Jesus is calling and when Jesus ain’t calling.

Friend, the Holy Spirit who lives inside Christ’s followers ALWAYS and ONLY speaks in line with the Bible. The most important way we hear from God is in reading the Bible. He also speaks directly to our hearts by His Spirit IN LINE WITH the Bible. He also speaks to us through counsel from other Christ followers IN LINE WITH the Bible. We need to be reading the Bible regularly and living by it in order to best be able to tell the difference between when Jesus is calling and when Jesus ain’t calling.

The Lord warns us over and again in the Bible about false teachers, false prophets, and false teaching. He also warns us that some of us WANT to hear false teachers and false teaching because what we hear from them can be easier and more comfortable to our flesh.

Let us be steadfast and faithful in seeking the Lord, praying to Him, reading the Bible, measuring what we believe we hear from Him against the Bible, and using caution and discernment in determining when the Lord has or hasn’t spoken to us.

Lord, how I long to hear from you. I never get tired of hearing from you. I want more and more of you and your Word and your personal words you speak to my heart. I pray you would bring this longing to all of us, and, at the same time, that you would give us wisdom and discernment in knowing when you are calling, so to speak, and when you are not. Help us Lord not to fall for confusion from the devil, or to mix up our flesh with your voice, or to think other people’s opinions are your voice, or that the world’s voice is your voice. Father, help us to hear YOUR VOICE. We who follow you are your sheep, and you promise us we can hear from you. So help us beloved Good Shepherd to hear from you. Protect us from false teaching. And, for those already under it as I once was, do as you did with me. Set them free. Deliver them from the false teaching. And, as you promise us by your Holy Spirit, bring us all into all truth (John 16:13). The truth of your Word, oh Lord. Help us to hear you, dear and precious Father!

“And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”” John 10:4-5

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” 2 Tim. 4:3-4

My Struggles Won’t Stop!

Ever met someone so broken for so incredibly long there was no human hope for them? That was me. You can read my personal story at or in my Finding the Light Gospel tract. I am whole today with an amazing life on the road full-time now with my handicapped ministry doggies doing streets ministry and writing Gospel tracts, devotionals, and books and doing video devotionals. Only by God’s grace through my life being totally devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ. So you probably figure my struggles are all behind me, right?

Friend, I have struggled EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE for decades. I have not been free from them for a single 24-hour period. But I have learned something in the midst of them. I no longer fight against my struggles. I accept I have them and that the Lord has a purpose in them and that He will bring me through them and that He will use them to draw me closer to Himself, to make me more like Himself, and to use me to help others to find and follow Him and get through their own trials and tribulations!

Long ago, I begged the Lord to change my circumstances. His Spirit spoke to my heart that He would not because He was using my circumstances to change my heart. My heart has been changed. My heart and life are entirely His now. I’m totally sold out to Him. And I am fully confident He will continue to use my struggles for His glory and to help people like yourself in your own journey.

Got struggles? Place them in the hands of the Lord, yield yourself totally to Him and the Bible, and see what He does!

Father God, use our struggles for whatever purpose you have. Oh, Lord, if it is your will to take any of them away, please do Lord! Thank you for doing so if that is the case, dear Father! But if it is your will we continue to face them, help us not to get stuck in them and down and discouraged because of them. Help us to rejoice that you are Lord, carry us through them, and use them in whatever way you desire in and through our lives to give glory to your name, AMEN!

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4

What Are You Beholding?

Behold isn’t a word used much if ever these days, but it is used over 1200 times in the King James version of the Bible. It means see and look or per Strong’s concordance in the New Testament can include in its definition, “used as interjection to denote surprise.” The word can draw our attention when we’re reading. There is something strong and emphatic about it.

What are we beholding? What draws our attention? Where do we look? What do we see? Where is our focus? Our highest priority of our hearts and eyes? May it be Jesus and the Bible and whatever He desires we see in this life!

Draw us to you, oh Lord! Help us to look to you and your Word as our number one! Help us to behold your love, beauty, and magnificence. AMEN!

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29

Bad Attitude? Repent!

The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart two things one morning that present a powerful message:

“Repent of your bad attitude and move on,” He said.

“You need to trust me and be obedient. With the right heart,” He said a little while later.

Get the point? The Lord desires and deserves the right actions – and the right attitude! The right heart! Obedience to the Lord means we need to follow Jesus with the right thoughts, words, and actions!

When He brings to light we have a bad attitude? We need to repent! Then what? Move on!

Father God, please show us when we’re in the wrong in your love for us. Please correct us in your love for us. Please chasten us when we need to change, to grow, and to turn to you. Please Lord help us get our thoughts, words, and actions right. Help us to live in a manner honoring and glorifying to you – attitude included! Thank you Father for answering my heart’s cry in this. Amen!

God’s Clear Direction

“I’m praying for clear direction,” a friend shared with me.

Truth is the Lord’s direction is ALWAYS clear. We just can’t always clearly hear Him. Why?

We may not take the time to hear Him. We may not study the Bible to hear from Him directly and to discern His Spirit speaking to our hearts who always speaks in line with the Bible. We may think the voice of our flesh is His voice. We may find His voice drowned out by everyone else’s opinions. We may even find we get the devil’s voice mixed up with the Lord’s when we fall prey to the devil’s deception. We may simply in rebellion turn our hearts, backs, and ears away from Him.

Let us be sure to take the love, time, and care to “diligently seek Him” in prayer, in the Bible, and in reaching out to fellow Christ followers for counsel when and as He leads us. And let us strive to hear – and obey – His always CLEAR voice.

Lord, help us to hear you! Speak to us through your Word! Speak to us by your Spirit to our hearts! Help us to discern your voice! Give us the strength to persevere in seeking you and to obey what you speak to us. Thank you dear Lord, AMEN!

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27
