I am one of those people who was so broken for so long and have faced such rejection and am so sensitive that I would have given almost anything to feel loved and appreciated and be validated and affirmed and felt by the words and actions of others that I had a significance and a worth. Now in my ministry work particularly with caring for my handicapped streets ministry doggies not to mention finally really learning to love and give, I receive positive words from people on a fairly regular basis. But I am so very quick to refuse the credit and instead to give the Lord the glory and praise. Everything in and through me that is good is from the Lord, and I want the world to know it!
I am filled with His love, and my significance and worth are through Jesus. And I know from the Bible plain and clear we are not to take the glory that belongs to the Lord. We are to give it to Him! Please find opportunities not to seek and take praise for yourself but to tell others how glorious and wonderful the Lord is. Give Him the glory for the good He does through you!
Lord, don’t let us steal your glory! All glory belongs to you, dear Father! Yet sometimes we steal it for ourselves because we are greedy and yearn for love, acceptance, validation, and praise! This is wrong! Lord, we need to give YOU the glory, honor, and praise. But how short we fall. Help us not to be prideful but humble. Help us to have opportunities galore to glorify you! Help the world to see you in and through us, but don’t let us take the honor! Convict us and lead us to repentance when we wrongfully take what belongs to you. To you be all glory, dear Lord, thank you, beloved Father, AMEN!
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” 2 Cor. 4:7
