Good News Daily – November 25

Dear friend,

I used to make such a huge deal over holidays. More often than not, I would be sad, upset, lonely, distraught, down, discouraged, and throwing a pity-party because my life wasn’t the way I wanted it and because of all my trials and struggles and losses over the years. Now things are altogether different for me. I don’t make a big deal out of holidays anymore. I think of them as nothing more nor less than another day with which the Lord has blessed me to love, praise, honor, please, obey, serve, worship, experience, enjoy, and glorify Him – and to tell the world about Him. And I enjoy the peace and quiet of simply following Jesus while countless people are hurrying and scurrying about with all the holiday hoopla.

I no longer put my hope, trust, confidence, and expectation in holidays whereby I inevitably end up disappointed in one way or another. I put my hope, trust, confidence, and expectation in the Lord Jesus Christ and rejoice that He is Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Father, God forever! I absolutely honor and respect those who go all out on holidays when they are in the will of the Lord, but for me holidays have come to be an opportunity to simply and humbly press on in following my beloved Jesus!

Please find today’s THREE MESSAGES below!

Fighting Roaches & the Devil

It didn’t take more than just a very few roaches in my hotel room that likely came in due to the cold outdoors for me to go all out with a vengeance to figure out how to get rid of them – IMMEDIATELY. I called the vet for advice regarding protecting my beloved handicapped ministry dogs, I headed to one store, then another, and off I went with my bag loaded up with multiple weapons to fight and defeat and obliterate those awful roaches while keeping my precious dogs and myself safe. No way were they going to live in the space with which the Lord had blessed me and my ministry dogs. Then something big dawned on me.

Why don’t we fight the devil to keep him from gaining ground in our lives in his ever effort to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) as hard as we fight against trespassers, robbers, muggers, criminals, mice, rats, roaches, mean people, violators, predators, anything or anyone who or that threatens to harm us in any way? He is the number one enemy of God’s followers, so why aren’t we going all out in our spiritual battles?

Just hours before, the Lord had spoken this to my heart:

Sadly, I had gone all out on obliterating those roaches while I had been letting the devil intimidate me and trample all over me with his attacks on my mind, lies, mental cruelty, and temptations.

God makes clear in the Bible we who follow Him are to PUT ON the armor He gives us – and TO TAKE IT UP! In other words, we need to put it on – and USE IT! Enough said!

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” Ephesians 6:10-20 NKJV

Change Your Perspective!

Change your perspective. The words came quickly. Was it God speaking to my heart? I can only imagine. Who else would give me such awesome and perfectly timed wisdom? I needed the words. I needed the message. I couldn’t help but think you might need it also. Do you?

How often do we who believe in and faithfully follow Jesus as Lord see ourselves as losers, failures, hopeless, insignificant, meaningless, purposeless, forsaken, messed up, incapable of doing what God has called us to do on this earth? When God loves us so much He sent His only Son Jesus to the cross to die to pay our sin penalty and to raise Him from the dead? When we as Jesus’ followers who have turned from our sins and devoted our lives to the Lord have the Holy Spirit living right inside us? When we have been forgiven and given a personal forever relationship with the Lord? When we have the Bible, God’s very own Word, to read and live by? When we are part of the worldwide family of God’s followers whereby we can love, encourage, pray for, help, teach, and support one another in following Jesus?

Even as I write this, I am so encouraged! Are you? See, as I was writing, I shifted my focus to the Lord and the truth about Him and those who belong to Him. I changed my perspective. And in Christ and the truth I rejoice.

Need to change your perspective?

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 NKJV

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11 NKJV

Take Care of Your Temple

“Take care of your temple,” the Lord reminded me strongly one day. “It is mine.”

We who follow Jesus are the temple of His Holy Spirit. He lives inside us! He lives through us!

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV

“You are responsible for caring for it,” He continued.

We who follow Jesus belong to the Lord. We need to take care of what belongs to the Lord. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually, we need to take care of what is His.

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV

Jesus bought His followers with the blood He shed on the cross. He redeemed us in sacrificing His life for us to pay our sin penalty.

“For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV

So we are responsible for caring for ourselves in a manner pleasing and honoring and glorifying to God!

“It is mine,” the Lord said.

What is His? We are! Our hearts, our minds, our bodies, our lives are His!

Are you glorifying God in the way you have been taking care of His temple?

Let us resolve to glorify God in our thoughts, words, and actions – including in the way we take care of our bodies! Day by day – and forevermore!
