Good News Daily – Thurs July 23

Dear friend,

The Lord has made ultra clear it’s time for me to finish writing my current book. So I am getting lots of writing time which I love – and many new messages to send your way!

Thank you in advance for reading and taking to heart today’s FIVE MESSAGES below! Wow! Five messages? Who has time to read FIVE MESSAGES? I hope you will take the time to read them. I believe the Lord has a purpose in compelling me to share all of these this very day! Hallelujah!

Today’s titles are:

* Your Highest Priority
* Broken Like Me
* Yesterday Is Over
* Love & Mercy
* Winning Your Battles

love & blessings,

Be honest. What is your very highest priority in life? If you look at your life going forward, if you look at your goals, desires, wishes, wants, and ways, if you look at your everyday life and how you spend each and every day, if you turn your focus inward and look at your heart and what lies within it, if you consider your thoughts and your conversations, if you examine how you spend your money and your free time, if you contemplate how others would perceive your highest priority based on your words and actions, what is your highest priority?

Is your highest priority the Lord Jesus Christ and humbly, lovingly, faithfully following Him day by day in spending time alone with Him and the Bible, praising and worshiping Him, seeking and hearing Him, praying to Him and listening, learning from Him and of Him, serving, adoring, obeying, and glorifying Him and telling others about Him and helping them to follow Him?

If the answer is yes, press on! If the answer is no, it is time right here, right now to rearrange your priorities for today, for tomorrow, and for the rest of your time here on this earth.

The Lord Jesus Christ is to be our highest priority, our number one love, and our greatest desire. And loving, serving, and glorifying the Lord is to be number one.

If you need to make some changes, may now be the time! AMEN!

Lord God, this is a bold message, and you have given me the courage and boldness to share it. Now please Father use the message to bring people into a total surrender to you, dear Lord, day in and day out. Each and every day, may you be the highest priority in each and every one of our hearts and lives, AMEN!

“And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:18

“…All things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;” Colossians 1:9-11

Broken Like Me

“Have you ever met someone so broken there was literally no hope for them?” I sometimes ask people before I share how that was me for decades and give them one of my Finding the Light Gospel tracts which includes my personal story and the Gospel message.

The answers vary. One day I received this response.

“Yes, that’s me,” a woman said right away when I asked her the question.

She had no trouble confessing the truth. She was broken. Unlike so many people who pridefully parade around keeping up appearances and pretend everything is alright when it is not, she knew she needed help and allowed her need to be seen.

The Lord opened wide the door, and I was privileged to share with her about the Lord Jesus Christ, to give her hope, to give her my tract, and to let her know she would be very welcome to reach out for love, help, encouragement, and support.

Friend, humble yourself. If you are walking around struggling with one thing or another, whether enormous or tiny or somewhere in between, humble yourself before the Lord and His children and ask for and receive the help you need.

A proud heart and haughtiness are sin against God almighty. Humble yourself, oh yes, AMEN!

Father, this world teaches us we need to look good and pretend everything in our lives is perfect or at the very least really good. This world condones pride and even encourages it. You despise pride and command us to humble ourselves. Help us to repent of any and all pride as often as it crops up in any form whatsoever and remind us as often as we need it to humble ourselves, oh Lord, AMEN!

“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.” Proverbs 16:5

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” 1 Peter 5:6

Yesterday Is Over

Yesterday is over, the Lord reminded me one day. Talk about obvious, right? But I needed the reminder. Why? I am one of those people who tends to look back at my sin and become greatly discouraged and fed up with myself and feel like I am never going to make any progress in loving, honoring, and pleasing the Lord because of my stumbles and falls. In plain English, I struggle with self-condemnation when I am not careful. Does this ever happen to you?

Yesterday is over, friend. The Lord brought to mind He had already forgiven me for what I had done wrong the day before. That His mercies are new each day. That a new day is a day for rejoicing and being glad in Him. That we are to leave the past behind and this very day “walk worthy” of what? Our calling. Our calling through repentance and faith in Him into His forever fellowship. We can’t redo yesterday. But we can strive to do right today. To please the Lord this very day!

Seek the Lord for any and all forgiveness you need. Do not condemn yourself if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and have already sought and received God’s forgiveness and turned from the sin. Get on with this new day. Following the Lord Jesus Christ as the Spirit of Christ leads you forth!

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

“This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

“This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions [the Hebrew word translated into “compassions” according to Strong’s concordance is also translated/used in the Bible as “mercy”]fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,” Ephesians 4:1

Love & Mercy

Are you loving with people? Are you merciful with them? You need to be, friend. And so must I. We are called by Christ to be loving and merciful. As He is. Regardless of the words, actions, attitudes, and behaviors of others. Our love and mercy are not to be contingent on others. They are to be contingent on the Lord Jesus Christ!

One morning I pulled three index cards out of a stack of them upon which I had written Bible verses. They were in no particular order. I pulled them out of random parts of the pile. They were all about love and mercy. Just what I needed. I had greatly lacked love and mercy with one of my handicapped ministry dogs whose needs are so extreme and whose behavior for several days had been terrible and taken a great toll on my work and peace of mind.

Over the years, many a time I have lacked love and mercy not just with the rescued dogs in my care but also very much so with people. The Lord has not only forgiven me every time I have repented. But He has lovingly and mercifully not given up on me and patiently continued to help me to learn to be loving and merciful as He is.

The ultimate goal is to be loving and merciful ALL THE TIME – WITH ALL. The Lord in His love for and mercy with us is the one who will train, transform, and equip us to be able to aim in this direction!

More and more so, by His grace alone and for His glory, I am. I am growing. I am a work in progress. I am in His loving and merciful hands as He perfects His ways in me. As He makes me more and more like Himself. Conformed to Him. To loving and merciful God. He is doing the work in me. He is doing the work through me. HE is doing it, yes, as I humble myself and yield to Him!

Please read the three verses below I found that day. And please place yourself in the hands of the Lord as He teaches you also to be loving and merciful and to do all that is right in His sight day by day and forevermore. All for the glory of Christ, AMEN!

“Therefore be merciful as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6:37

“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Cor. 16:13-14

“For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2:13

Winning Your Battles

Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are in a spiritual war as the devil goes all out to fulfill his mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and there are 3 surefire musts for us to win our battles.

To be living in faith in and submission to the Lord Jesus Christ and to His will and ways.
To be in close fellowship with the Lord, to be filled with and led by His Holy Spirit, and to be steadily reading the Bible and living by it.
To not quit in the battles but to seek the Lord in prayer and to follow the wisdom and directions He gives us in His strength and power until victory is achieved. All for the glory not for us – but FOR HIM!
Are you winning your battles? Press on!

Father, help us win our battles! Not for our comfort, satisfaction, and peace of mind though you may well bless us with this and in other ways when we have victory because of you, but for your praise, honor, and glory! Help us to press on! Help us to win, oh Lord! AMEN!

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…” James 4:7-8

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” 1 John 5:4
