He is Lying to You!

If you have ever been lied to, you know how awful it is. It is really, really yucky, hard, discouraging, scary, heartbreaking, and hurtful. And if you have ever lied, rest assured the Bible is clear lying is sin and that liars who do not repent and tun to the Lord Jesus Christ and stop lying will go to hell and the lake of fire not heaven. But this message isn’t about people lying to us or us lying to people. It is about the worst and biggest liar ever and what we need to do about his lies.

The devil is a liar, we need to be very, very careful to recognize him and his lies, and we need to turn away from his lies and choose and live by and in God’s truth instead.

The worst part about the devil’s lies is that he tries to pretend he is not behind them and tries to get us to think his lies are truth. He wants us confused, deceived, and to fall for his temptations, tactics, distractions, and endless efforts to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10) and most of all to try to distance us from God.

Some examples of the devil’s lies?

“You’re never going to amount to anything.”

“God won’t forgive you if you repent and turn to Him. Just keep sinning.”

“You might as well quit. You’ll never make it doing what God told you to do.”

“You shouldn’t forgive that person. Just keep being angry. That’s the right way to live.”

“God made a mistake when He made you. You never should have been born.”

“You think God told you to do what you’re doing? Forget about it. He never would have told you that. You’ll be way better off following me not God.”

There are three awesome ways to recognize God’s truth. Read the Bible, spend time alone with God and learn to recognize the voice of His Holy Spirit speaking to your heart in line with the Bible, and stay closely connected with Jesus’s faithful followers to help you tell the difference between God’s truth and the devil’s lies.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”” Revelation 21:8 NKJV

“…He [the devil]was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” John 8:44 NKJV
