Hear. Do. Love.

“And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your hearing today, that you may learn them and be careful to observe them… ‘Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!…“Therefore you shall be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. “You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.” Deuteronomy 5:1-33

Everything you read in my Word, be a doer of. Don’t neglect this. Hearing is one thing. Doing is another. Do both. Hear. Do. Love. Love is doing.

These are some of the words the Spirit of God who lives inside His followers spoke to me one morning. Reminding me to HEAR His Word. To READ His Word. To DO His Word. And to live by faith IN HIS LOVE. His commandments boil down to the two greatest Jesus teaches. To love God with all our hearts and to love others. HEAR. DO. LOVE.

Then I opened my Bible to a “random” page in which I had stuck my highlighter. I looked down. I started to read. Only the Lord could have orchestrated this. The words I read, quoted above, were the perfect fit for what He had spoken to me.

God wants us to read the Bible. God wants us to do what lies within its pages. He wants us to hear Him and to obey Him. And, in so doing, He wants us to love Him and to love others.

What a powerful message, isn’t it? For us all.

May we hear God. May we do what God tells us. May we act in love for Him and for others. Amen.

“Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Mt. 22:37-40
