Heroes: 4 Key Ingredients

0

People sometimes refer to the 11th chapter of the book of Hebrews in the Bible as the “heroes of faith” chapter. The Lord shows us in this chapter person after person who had an amazing faith in Him and an accompanying phenomenal life as this faith was manifested. If you read this wonderfully inspiring chapter, and if you read the Bible continually as I believe we all should do and look at the Bible as a whole, I believe there are 4 key main ingredients – or characteristics – to God’s “heroes.” I readily confess I am not a Bible expert. I simply love the Lord with all my heart and read the Bible every day of my life and do my best to live by it. And here is what I see in the way of the characteristics of people who have led incredible lives following the Lord.

  • Faith in the Lord
  • Loving the Lord with all their hearts
  • Fear of God
  • Total devotion to the Lord and His ways to include prayer, praise, worship, sacrifice, giving, generosity, dying to self, living for Christ, humility, kindness, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, being filled with and led by the Spirit, giving glory to God, telling others about the Lord, etc.

I believe anyone who is a true “hero of the faith” would be the last to call himself or herself that. Why? They would exalt the Lord and not themselves. Needless to say, I do believe if we sat down with any of them face to face, they would readily agree we are to believe in the Lord, love Him with all our hearts, fear Him, and be totally devoted to Him.

Friend, please ask yourself these 4 questions:

  • Do you believe in Jesus Christ as Lord?
  • Do you love the Lord with all your heart?
  • Do you fear God?
  • Are you TOTALLY DEVOTED to the Lord and His ways?

May this describe your life. And, if it does not, may you make any and all necessary changes. Such that you are and remain TOTALLY DEVOTED to the Lord Jesus Christ, AMEN! Forever and ever, yes! Hallelujah, yes, AMEN!

Father, I am blown away by all the messages you pour through me. I learn so much from them. I am so humbled by what you teach me and how you encourage me through them and so blessed you use me and the messages to love and help and encourage others to be totally yours. To be TOTALLY DEVOTED to you!

Please, Lord, will you please give to ALL OF US a heart’s cry and desire and dedication to being wholly and forever yours? To becoming and remaining TOTALLY DEVOTED to you, oh Lord, oh Father, oh God, oh yes! Amen!

Please friend take the time to read all of Hebrews chapter 11. And please take the time each and every day to sit at the feet of Jesus, pray, open the Bible, read and learn and grow, and praise, praise, praise the Lord. Listen to Him, hear Him, and obey Him. Be totally and forever HIS! Be TOTALLY DEVOTED to the Lord God almighty, oh yes, AMEN!

Here is a little bit of Hebrews 11 to give you a taste of this heartwarming and so very inspirational chapter!

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain…By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death,…he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:3-8

One of my favorite words in the Bible which is found in the KJV version is “cleave.” I like to think of that word as meaning, “to hold on for dear life.”

Please read these verses and be encouraged to be TOTALLY DEVOTED to the Lord! Hold onto Him for dear life! Be wholly surrendered to Him now and forevermore, oh yes, hallelujah, glory be to the Lord, AMEN!

“But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua 22:5 (KJV version of the Bible)
