Be prepared. If it hasn’t already happened to you, be warned that it will. According to the Lord. If you are totally devoted to the Lord, and by the Holy Spirit have the boldness and courage to share the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven as the Lord leads you with others, you will face hatred, rejection, and persecution. Some experience it to such an exceeding degree that what you and I may experience is nothing in comparison. Some will get their heads chopped off.
Some will be tortured indescribably. Some will lose their families. Some will be beaten and burned. There are a wide range of degrees of the hatred people have for people sold out to Jesus, but suffice it to say the Lord makes clear we will face it to one degree or another. The good news is there are amazing promises that come with this as you will see in the verses below. And know this. The greatest promise of all for those totally devoted to Jesus is having a breathtakingly beautiful forever relationship with the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Savior of the world, almighty God, Jesus forever and ever, AMEN!
Father, wherever they are around this world, please God help every single person being persecuted for you. Help them to know your love like we cannot even fathom. Beyond description. Comfort them beyond measure. Heal them. Help them. Strengthen them. Fill them with your Spirit. Send them help. Lord, let them so feel your presence that they can’t even feel the heinous abuse.
Give them wisdom. Deliver them. Set them free. Even if that freedom means their time on this earth comes to an end. Then set them free to be with you. Or set them free to go out and tell more people about you. Or if they stay where they are being tortured, use them to preach the Gospel to their torturers and to those bound up in prisons and horrible places with them.
Don’t let their captivity be without a purpose for you. May your Spirit rest upon them, oh Lord. Help their families. Strengthen their families. For those whose families are persecuting them, bring the families to repentance and save them. I could go on and on.
Lord, cause the people you choose around this world to be special prayer warriors for them and to endure in prayer and not to give up praying. Lord, get Bibles to them. Even if it’s page by page being passed through barriers and walls to get your Word to them. Give them visions and dreams of you. Speak to their hearts. Encourage them. Oh, Lord, help them! Oh, God, yes! AMEN!
“Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.” Luke 6:22-23
“And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 10:22
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.” John 15:18-21
“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12
