How You Should Move Forward

0

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23

How should I move forward? I wondered late one morning. The Lord was clearly moving me forward in my ministry work magnificently, and I was humbled beyond measure at all He was doing in and through me. I didn’t have any employer or director over me, so the only one I had to answer to was the Lord. I was indescribably thankful that I was totally free and available to simply seek and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, but sometimes I felt overwhelmed.

So much was happening. What should I do next? Then what? And what after that? How would I move ahead? Which way would I go? So many doors were opening. So many opportunities. And no human being was there to order my steps. I’m a passionate, creative, visionary type of person, so anything to do with lists, organization, and administration tends to make me feel stifled, bound, and, yes, more overwhelmed. How then would I go forward? That’s when it dawned on me.

When we need to move forward, and we don’t know what steps to take, we don’t need to look forward. We need to GO DOWNWARD and to LOOK UPWARD. Down to our knees. Looking up to the Lord. Down in our hearts in humility. Crying upward to the Lord. Whether or not we physically get on our knees is beside the point. We need to humble ourselves before the Lord. To GO DOWNWARD. We need to look to the Lord Jesus Christ. He is UPWARD. This is how to MOVE FORWARD. We need to seek and listen to and obey the Lord!

I hurried to the computer to write this message while it was fresh in my heart. But I knew the next thing I needed to do was not to go rushing forward into the day haphazardly running from one opportunity to the next. I needed to GO DOWNWARD and to LOOK UPWARD. Off to the Lord I would go.

Please do the same. Don’t be a little lord over your life. Commit your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, for HE IS LORD! GO DOWNWARD, LOOK UPWARD, and let the Spirit of God lead you FORWARD as He desires in His time for HIS GLORY!
