I Love My Work

Never in a million years did I imagine I would still be alive in my 50s given my decades of brokenness and contemplating suicide let alone be a totally devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ let alone have an immeasurably strong sense of purpose in life which I didn’t have for years let alone absolutely love my work given all the jobs I had that I tolerated at best and hated at most. But all of this is now true because of the Lord Jesus Christ. And I want to share with you why I love my work to encourage you to do and love the work God has for you.
I love my work because God gave it to me, because it’s not just work but my calling, because I get to use the gifts God has given me to do the work, because the work is for God and for others, because it’s for God’s glory and not mine, and because God has blessed me with enjoying that to which He has called me!
Do you do work you love? Whether it’s being a mom, a flight attendant, a pastor, a dog trainer, a farmer, a house cleaner, a student, a teacher, a church secretary, an editor, a fireman, a street cleaner, a dump truck driver, whatever it is, are you clear this is the work to which the Lord has called you? Are you doing the work through the strength of God and with the abilities, gifts, resources, etc. He has given you? And is your ultimate goal in your work to love and serve the Lord and others and to bring God glory? Are you keeping your heart and eyes open to opportunities in your work to tell others about Jesus and to love, pray for, encourage, and help them to find and follow the Lord? And taking those opportunities with boldness and courage given to you by God?
Pray, pray, pray. And see where you stand. Make any changes the Lord places on your heart. Read the Bible. Seek counsel from God’s followers if you need help with any of this. Most of all, trust the Lord to make known His will to you and provide all you need to love and obey Him in your work and in all things. All for the glory of God almighty, AMEN!
“”Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
