I meet countless people who say they believe in God but never bother to read the Bible. Others have studied the Bible in the past but have stopped. Still others don’t spend quality time with God daily seeking His face, praying, pouring out their hearts to Him, and listening to Him as He speaks into their hearts in line with His Word since He never speaks against His own Word. Others don’t ground themselves in the Body of Christ whereby they can receive the love, encouragement, prayer, and godly counsel as needed as they learn to not just believe in the Lord, but to follow Him.
People are surprised sometimes at how often I hear from God. But they shouldn’t be surprised. I am nobody special in the least. I hear from Him for two reasons. I am 100% committed to studying His Word regularly, daily to be precise. And I am constantly seeking His face, continuously repenting when I need to, talking to Him, praying to Him, asking Him questions, listening for His voice, pursuing ever increasingly intimate relationship with Him – tenaciously, relentlessly as I fall ever more in awe of, reverence for, and love with Him. No, I am nobody special at all. But I am wise enough to know that if I want to hear God speak to me, I need to open my heart and eyes and make the commitment and take the love, time, and care to listen. Is there anyone or anything in the universe more important to listen to than the Lord?
There is nothing more important than believing in God through faith in Jesus Christ, loving and serving Him with all our hearts, and listening to His voice and obeying Him as He leads us in His ways everlasting. Is this your highest priority?
Joh 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
Joh 10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
Joh 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
Joh 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
Joh 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
