“And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.” Mark 6:46……….

Life in this modern day world seems to get ever busier, doesn’t it? If you’re anything like I am, the challenge to stay focused on the Lord and His Word given life’s constant distractions and temptations can be tough. But when you’re 100% committed as I am to the Lord Jesus Christ being your all and all as He should be, to Him being your number one love, to Him being your absolute number one priority, you will make certain you take time out to be alone with Jesus day by day.

Just as Jesus stepped away from His everyday life to spend time alone with the Father in heaven, we need to step away from our everyday lives and spend time alone with the Lord and the Bible.

Not only do I spend time in the Bible daily, but day and night I am continually reaching out to the Lord in prayer, in conversation, pouring out my heart, seeking Him, thinking about His Word, and seeking His wisdom and direction, receiving correction, thanking Him, praising and worshiping Him, talking about Him to others, communing with Him for sometimes moments and minutes, other times longer periods. I also take whole chunks of time away from everything and everyone else to spend concentrated time with Him which when I’m not reading the Bible often happens when I’m out walking in the fresh air with Him.

Oh, how I LOVE to walk with the Lord. To literally go on long walks singing to Him, loving Him, seeking Him, listening for His voice as His Spirit speaks to my heart and pours wisdom and direction into me, praying for people, enjoying His company, and yielding myself to Him as He chastens me, leads me to repentance, and further conforms me to Himself. For me, this is alone time with Jesus I love. This is time out with Jesus. This is me and Jesus time.

Jesus went up on a mountain to pray to the Father. Maybe you love to walk as I do. Maybe you love being out on the water. Perhaps you love sitting on your back porch listening to the birds. Or going into your prayer closet in the back of the house. Or if you’re homeless heading down to the river to a private place where nobody else goes. Or if you’re in prison going to the corner of your cell and turning your back on everyone and everything else for a little while. Or simply closing your eyes in bed in the middle of the night and listening for the voice of the Lord.

No matter the details of your alone time, please make sure you take it. Daily. With Jesus. For the greatest blessing in the universe is Christ, and having a forever relationship with Him when we repent and believe in Him as Lord who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, genuinely devoting our lives to God and His ways. And this indescribably wonderful blessing of Christ and a personal forever relationship with Him is to be treasured, to be experienced, to be enjoyed, to be developed, to be honored, to be invested in, and to be appreciated beyond measure.

Time out with Jesus, friend. Please don’t ever miss it. There’s nothing more important in the world than Christ and believing in, loving, and following Him. Now. And forevermore!
