“Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is  like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Mt. 22:37-40

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27

I knelt on the ground in a little underground tunnel area in Central Park, New York City, with a group of followers of the Lord Jesus Christ crying out aloud to the Lord with such intensity in prayer from the very deep of my soul that I was literally almost dizzy with desperation and emotion.

I cried out to God almighty for Him to forgive this world for how much of humanity right now has its back turned against Him. A prayer of repentance for the world – including countless believers in Christ who are lukewarm or even dead in heart when it comes to Jesus.

What strikes me as I write this one day later is how much the Lord has changed me – heart and prayers included. My life – prayers included – used to revolve around me and my needs and desires. Now? My life is about Jesus and others! Oh, how the Lord is changing me – teaching me to obey His greatest commands to the depths and core of my being.

Is He changing you? Yield yourself utterly to Him and the Bible. Now. Tomorrow. And forever!

p.s. Should we pray for ourselves? Yes! In line with the Bible! According to God’s will and ways! With trust in Him that He knows what is best! But let us not be consumed with self. May we be consumed with Christ – forevermore. AMEN!
