The Sun Will Shine Again

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33

“The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” Rev. 21:23

“There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.” Rev. 22:5

I’ve been in New Jersey for less than a week as I’m out on the road for Jesus full-time with my sweet special needs doggies minus dear 15-year-old Dancer whose life so very sadly ended just days ago, and it’s simply been just one great challenge after another – coupled with a grey sky and rain that simply seems never-ending. Do you ever go through a season in your life in which the rain never seems to stop? I’m not talking about the weather necessarily, but about the circumstances of your life. Do you ever feel like the hard stuff is just never going to end, and the sun is never going to shine again?

A friend reminded me recently that the Lord Jesus Christ promised us we WILL have tribulations in this life, but the first verse above to which she was referring tells us that we should be cheerful because Jesus has overcome the world. And those who believe in Him as Lord, having turned from a lifestyle of sin to God and His ways, believing He died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, are forgiven and given an everlasting relationship with Christ. Oh, yes, the sun will shine again! The Son will shine forever!

The reality is that many of us going through cloudy, hard, rainy seasons in our lives will see the sun shine again. Others of us just seem to never catch a break at all, and the grey, rainy skies never seem to go away. But the truth according to the Lord God almighty is that ALL who follow Jesus Christ as Lord will one day be in a place in which we will experience EVERLASTING LIGHT. We won’t even need electricity! Sunshine here on earth, and better, good times here, are NOTHING compared with what lies ahead for Christ’s followers! For we will be in God’s awesome almighty forever glorious presence FOREVER!

Today, I told that same beloved friend to look upward. A reminder that we need to look up not at the rainy skies when it seems like it will never stop raining, but we need to look upward to the Lord Jesus Christ. And remind ourselves for those of us who faithfully follow Him that one day we will be in a place where we will be in the presence of God’s glorious light forevermore. All pain, trials, tribulations, troubles, struggles, challenges, hurts, brokenness, darkness, etc., all of it will be forever gone!

I need that reminder as I continue going through seemingly relentless challenges right now. Do you? Let’s you and I look upward! To the greater light that ever was, is, and will be. The Lord Jesus Christ – forever and ever, forever and ever Lord!
