TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATION “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:8 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8 I haven’t seen mice in the garbage room in my building in a week or so. I haven’t seen a roach in my apartment since yesterday I believe it was. The garbage outside the front of my building was so mountainous yesterday I had trouble steering the wheelchair dogs around it. This morning it was still there along with vomit spewed on the front door of my building as well as into the front of the building. But I was able to walk the dogs for about 15 minutes with nobody screaming cuss words at me, nobody’s marijuana or cigarette smoke filling up my nostrils, and my 14-year-old dog Abigail who can barely walk not wanting to attack anyone’s dogs. A rare exception to my usual life these days.ff Life in my second season of streets ministry work in New York City rarely contains a dull moment. Or a nice-smelling, clean, sanitary, totally quiet, calm, comfortable, and entirely easy one either. But I wouldn’t give up my time serving the Lord Jesus Christ here for anything, and herein lies the message. Once you fall in love with the Lord Jesus Christ, once you know Him personally and intimately, once you turn from your sins and turn totally to Him, once you surrender all to Him, once you become totally His, once you know His love and find it’s never ending, once you fall in love with the Bible and live according to the ways of the Lord, once you live day in and day out knowing you are promised forever with Jesus rather than forever in hell and the lake of fire as you faithfully follow Him, once you know the joy and thrill of serving Him, the privilege of telling the world about Him, and the amazingness of drawing closer and closer to the Lord of the universe and being filled with more and more of His Spirit, once you see the fruit He bears through you as you bow down before Him with a humble, faithful heart, once you feel His presence and spend time alone in His presence, once you cry out to Him and watch how He hears and responds to you, once you consider being in His forever glorious face-to-face presence you get to look forward to through a life submitted to Him, oh, the mice, the roaches, the vomit, the cussing, the craziness of this life, and the sacrifice of comfort and ease and serenity in the world around you, it all pales in comparison to the wonder and magnificence of belonging to Jesus and abiding in Him forevermore and helping others to have the same! To know and have and follow Jesus forevermore, YES! Are you fully surrendered to Christ, friend? Living utterly for Him? Are you holding onto comfort and ease, or are you holding onto Jesus and whatever His will for you is no matter the cost? Have you tasted the goodness and wonder of the Lord? Follow Him, follow Him, follow Him yes! |
