Dear friend, …………

Years ago I was offended because two friends didn’t want to do something I wanted to do to honor the Lord. I felt what I wanted to do honored the Lord. They felt it did not. We became divided over the issue…….

All these years later, I realize three things. First, we shouldn’t have been divided. We should have resolved to be united in Christ and chosen love over offense. Second, I believe the Lord wasn’t as concerned with the action we were divided over as much as He was concerned with the motives and conditions of our hearts. We all wanted to please Him! We just had a different understanding. Third, desiring to honor the Lord is borne of a love for the Lord which is borne from the Lord first loving us.

Friend, I encourage you and I to obey God’s greatest commands as our highest desire. To love Him with all our hearts through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and to love others as ourselves.

Are you? Am I? Let us do so, oh yes!

“Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Mt. 22:37-40
