I have a soft-spoken super sweet sister in the Lord who is enormously merciful. This really stands about her. I, on the other hand, am known for being really strong in bringing forth the truth about Jesus and of the Bible. I believe God uses my friend to model to me how to be softer, sweeter, and more merciful. And I believe He uses me to model to my beautiful sister how to bring the truth about Jesus and of the Bible to people. My beloved friend and I can easily be at opposite extremes when it comes to mercy and truth. But I believe the Lord desires us to LOVE OTHERS with MERCY AND TRUTH.
In other words, we should be loving and strong and firm and merciful in bringing the truth about God and the Bible to people. We should bring a gentleness, patience, and kindness and strength in telling them the truth about Jesus. We should speak and act with the love of Christ. We should not hold back the truth when God calls us to bring it to others. Nor should we hold back love and mercy.
I am not a Bible expert, and I don’t have a full understanding of the following verses, but I hope they will bless you the way they bless me when it comes to mercy and truth and this message.
“Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.” Psalms 85:10-11 KJV
Oh, dear Father, help us to be loving and merciful and kind and gentle and yet firm and strong and courageous by the power of your Holy Spirit living inside your children in delivering the truth about you and your Word to others, dear Lord. Oh, God, help us love one another! Please dear God help us to be merciful and truthful. And may you, dear Lord, get the glory, oh Lord! Fill your followers afresh with your Spirit and give us boldness and grace dear God as we go forth, AMEN!
