“Oh God help me to love and serve you with all my heart amen!” I prayed fervently.
Are you led to pray the same prayer? Or something like it? Fervently? Passionately? Truly? Sincerely? Genuinely? Zealously? With real intention? Because you honestly long and yearn and hunger to love and serve the Lord with all your heart? And because you humbly know and confess you need God’s help to do so? And because you know that without the Lord you and I who believe in Jesus as Lord cannot bear fruit for Him to glorify Him?
“”I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” John 15:8
Did you know God promises to give His children all we need to live for Him in a godly and righteous manner as we are called to do?
“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 2 Peter 1:3
Friend, we were created to love and serve the Lord with all our hearts, but this world and culture teach us to do anything but.
“”And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,” Deuteronomy 10:12
“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4
The world is constantly drilling it into us that we should live with our backs turned on God almighty. The devil’s temptations are seemingly endless. The world’s distractions are seemingly countless. The pressure from people to follow the tidal wave of the world chasing after ungodliness, unholiness, and unrighteousness is seemingly never-ending. It can seem impossible to walk down the pathway of righteousness God sets before us. The pathway following Him.
“Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.” Psalm 85:13
We are friends of the world and its wickedness, or we are friends of Jesus following after Him and His righteousness.
Jesus says His friends are those who obey Him!
“You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.” John 15:14
This world believes the way to live is to love and serve and live for self. Me, me, me. Us, us, us.
The Lord’s greatest commands are to love HIM with all our hearts and to love OTHERS as ourselves (Mark 12:29-31)!
Denying ourselves, taking up our crosses, and following Jesus (Luke 9:23) means being a friend of God instead of a friend of this world.
Denying self for Christ is HARD on the flesh! It can even seem impossible at times when the flesh is screaming, “Satisfy me! Satisfy me! I must have this! I must have that! Give me, give me, fulfill my selfish lusts!”
But, oh, the joy, the reward, the amazingness of loving and pleasing and living for God and belonging to Him and being with and experiencing and enjoying Him forever and ever, AMEN!
“Oh God help me to love and serve you with all my heart amen!”
The Lord will give us the love, grace, mercy, strength, power, comfort, encouragement, wisdom, fellowship, inspiration, Bible verses, help, support, absolutely everything we need, most of all Himself, to enable us to love and serve Him with every ounce of our hearts!
May you pray fervently for the Lord to lead you and enable you in humbly and faithfully and devotedly loving and serving Him with ALL YOUR HEART every single day of your life and forever and ever, AMEN!
