My Lord, My God!
Are you familiar with the Bible story in which Thomas, one of Jesus’ 12 apostles, said he would not believe Jesus was raised from the dead unless he could see and touch Jesus? Jesus in His love, mercy, compassion, and patience allowed Thomas to do as he desired in order to believe and then used what transpired as a lesson that those who are blessed are those who have the faith in His death and resurrection without needing to see as Thomas had. Speaking of seeing, I missed something so beautiful for years until the Spirit of Christ brought it to light. He illuminated in my heart one tiny but absolutely awesome word in this story and its wonderful significance!
The word? “My”. The significance? This. Thomas said MY Lord. And Thomas said MY God. And sometimes if not often I believe we get fixated on Jesus being Lord and on Jesus being God. But we neglect to be thrilled and ecstatic over the fact that when we repent and put our faith in Him and in His death and resurrection and receive Him as Lord and Savior of our lives, He is OUR Lord and OUR God. In my case, He is MY Lord and MY God. In your life, if you believe in Him as Lord, He is YOUR Lord and YOUR God. Do you see, friend? Isn’t this so incredibly beautiful? So personal?! So intimate?! So wonderful?! Oh, yes!
This personalizes it all. This implies and brings to light the amazing, amazing intimacy we can have with Jesus! In His fellowship. In relationship to Him forevermore. That He is ours, and that we are His. He is not a distant Lord and God up in the sky. His very Spirit lives inside His followers! And we who follow Him will be with Him FOREVER. He is ours, and we are His!
Oh, how magnificent! How glorious! Let us not think of Jesus Christ as a far-away Lord and God. Let us remember and acknowledge and rejoice in the truth that to His followers, to His children, to genuine believers in Him, to His disciples, to His servants, HE BELONGS TO US and WE BELONG TO HIM! Hallelujah!
My Lord! My God! My King! My Savior! My healer! My provider! My redeemer! My master! My teacher! My first love! My advocate! My counselor! My director! My Father! My number one priority! Oh hallelujah! Praise, praise, praise the Lord God almighty in Christ, AMEN!
Lord, God, my Lord, my God, hallelujah! Please dear God, illuminate this truth in the hearts of all who read this message. Bring this truth to light in their lives! In all of our lives! And get this message into the hands and hearts of all you desire all over the world! Oh, Lord, thank you for this truth you have revealed to me and that you are revealing to others now through me! Oh, God! Jesus! Father! Thank you, thank you, praise you, oh Lord, AMEN!
“Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”” John 20:24-29
