Four simple words. May not mean much to someone else. May not mean much to you. Or maybe they do. Maybe they mean lots. Like they mean to me.
“My timetable, not yours,” the Lord spoke to my heart by His Holy Spirit.
I knew immediately what He meant. For years, I said I believed in the Lord Jesus Christ but didn’t live my life like I did. I lived for me not for Jesus. Now I live for the Lord. I am totally devoted to Him. And I yearn desperately to please God day by day, to love, honor, cherish, adore, praise, worship, serve, obey, and glorify Him. I used to not obey Him. Now I am desperate to do so. And to repent when I fall short. Trouble is sometimes I get things really messed up when it comes to timing. My timing – versus His timing.
God doesn’t just have a plan and purpose for us. He has His perfect timing for His perfect will for us. And I tend to pray to God, hear His will for me, and then go rushing off at high speed to do my best to obey Him. Only to discover I neglected to seek Him about His timing. And to wait – patiently – for His timetable. For His timing. This is so very hard for me!
Friend, God’s will is vital. So is His timetable. Please pay attention to both. I have the wildest feeling even as I write that that someone is going to read this and realize he or she was rushing ahead and forgetting to wait for God to lead the way – in His perfect time.
Let this be a reminder for us all to humbly seek and fulfill the will of God – in His time. FOR HIS GLORY! Amen!
