When I was a girl I loved the beach and enjoyed finding shells especially one special kind which I rarely came upon. I stopped collecting shells as I grew up but decades later in my middle age found myself collecting shells again. This is when I found a very special seashell of that variety – with a message to go with it.
In the shelter of the interior of the big curve of the shell was a smaller shell that had found refuge there and was at perfect peace and rest and comfort and contentment in the fold and hold of the bigger shell.
I could tell nothing could break the two shells apart. The little one had found its hiding place and seemed to know there was nowhere more important and secure and blessed to be than inside the loving safety of the bigger shell.
Friend, I believe you and I are the little shells and God is the great big shell who desires for us to come and rest in His love and in the shelter of His wondrousness and gloriousness. Where we are safe and secure in intimate fellowship with Him. Inseparable. Ever drawing closer to the Lord Jesus Christ as He draws closer to us.
Come away from the cares, troubles, and struggles of this life and spend time alone with Jesus and the Bible and pray and feel the awesome love and presence of God as you find refuge in Him.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”” Psalms 91:1-2 NKJV
