Never Quit

Never quit. These aren’t my original words. I saw them on a bumper sticker and was so thankful for the awesome and powerful reminder. I am here to tell you that when we are clear about God’s will for us, whatever His will may be, WE SHOULD NEVER QUIT and we should TRUST THAT GOD WILL GIVE US ALL WE NEED TO CARRY ON.

My Dad told me when I was growing up that I was a quitter. Granted I did quit some stuff, but other things I definitely held onto. Needless to say over the years there have been plenty of things I have quit, and others I was strongly tempted to quit but managed to hold on. When I consider the modern day American culture, I believe we live in a time quitting anything or anyone at any time is pretty much the norm because the world teaches us to focus on self, to love self, to be in touch with our feelings, and to live according to our feelings.

So when something is uncomfortable, hard, challenging, doesn’t feel good, doesn’t measure up to our wishes, ways, and wants, doesn’t meet our expectations and hopes, feels impossible, etc., the world pretty much tells us to go ahead and quit.

But all this runs contrary to God’s commands for us to love Him with all our hearts, to love each other, and to live for Him in obedience to Him according to His ways not the world’s ways.

In recent years, I have endured concerning God’s will, against all odds, circumstances, and challenges, for four simple reasons I encourage you to consider regarding your own life.

  • I have CHOSEN not to quit regarding God’s will for me IN LOVE FOR AND OBEDIENCE TO HIM.
  • I have TURNED TO GOD and SOUGHT GOD FOR and RECEIVED FROM GOD all I have needed to carry on.
  • I have made the Lord Jesus Christ and my personal relationship with Him #1 in my life whereby His love and fellowship with Him and having an ever-deepening, ever-growing relationship with Him have been worth every ounce of not quitting His will for me.
  • I have learned to GIVE GOD THE GLORY for my endurance rather than to pridefully take the credit myself.

Friend, please never quit God’s will for your life. Cry out to the Lord and carry on! Amen!

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV
