One of the worst things we can ever say to God is NO. Pride and rebellion when God tells us to do something, the decision to disobey Him and His commands to us, this grieves the Holy Spirit of God, surely must break His heart, and comes with terrible consequences both to us and to others in this world.
Perhaps then you think we should respond to God when He tells us to do something, “I will think about it, God,” or, “Let me get back to you, God,” or “Maybe, God, I will see what other options I have,” or even, “What you are telling me to do, God, I will use as my backup plan if my plans don’t work the way I want them to.” This, too, is sin. For we are loving self and striving to please self instead of humbling ourselves before the Lord, surrendering ourselves to Him, and living to love, honor, please, serve, obey, and glorify God!
The best and right way to respond to God when He makes His will known to us is to willingly, humbly, lovingly, faithfully, and devotedly essentially and effectively using whatever words we may say, “Okay God!” In other words, we should say, “Yes, God!” And whether or not we even speak any words, always above all else we should humble ourselves and obey the Lord!
Next time God makes clear His will to you, whether or not you say, “Okay” or “Yes,” please make sure your response to God in your heart, in your words, and in your actions is one of OBEDIENCE.
May Jesus never have to say to us, “”But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” Luke 6:46 NKJV
When the time comes for us to stand before the Lord which we all one day will do, may we hear the Lord speak to us of our love for and obedience to Him! In our time remaining on this earth, friend, may we be faithful in our love for and obedience to Him – always! Amen!
“Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 NKJV
