Please God Help Me Love Her!

“Please God help me love her!” I have cried out to God again and again regarding someone who has hurt me with her attitude toward me and ongoing inconsiderateness regarding a certain matter.

In the old days, before God mercifully transformed me from a lukewarm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ to a totally sold out Jesus follower, I would have tossed the Lord and the Bible to the wayside and filled my thoughts, words, and actions with sin.

Anger, hurt, bitterness, dislike if not hatred, self-pity, drama, pride, self-righteousness, bad-mouthing, criticism, judgment, and Lord only knows what else. Rest assured my flesh has been tempted to do just that. But the Holy Spirit has held me back and reminded me of two vital truths about love.

First, God’s greatest commands are to love Him with all our hearts and to love each other, and loving others is not contingent on what others do and don’t do. We are commanded by God to love others. Period.

Second, when we desire to obey God in loving others and cry out to Him in prayer, He will give us the love to love them. Period.

God may or may not lead us to stay in other people’s lives. There are times He calls us to stay. Other times He calls us to leave. But God’s command to love others is not contingent on whether people are in our lives for a moment or a lifetime, for one reason or another one, in one way or another, on how they behave, on any circumstances at all.

We are simply commanded by God to love each other, and the Lord will supply us with the love to love! Hallelujah, AMEN!

If you are having trouble loving someone, please do this:

  1. Cry out to God for forgiveness for any sin in your thoughts, words, and actions!
  2. Pour out your heart to God and receive His love, comfort, and healing concerning any hurt and heartbreak, etc.!
  3. Pray to God that He will give you the love to love that person and the ability to forgive!

So much of this world right now is doing a really poor job in loving God and loving others. Let us not be part of those statistics. Oh, let us love! Amen!

“And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.” 1 John 3:23

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5 NKJV

“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 2 Peter 1:3 NKJV
